    <HTML>Dear Friends,

The much-anticipated switch is imminent. Sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning we will be switching over to the new board. This new board will bring several changes, the most noteworthy being registration. Visitors will still be able to read through the discussions, but only registered members will be allowed to post messages.

Some of you may also welcome the addition of a 'Buddy List', and perhaps more importantly an 'Ignore List' which allows you to specify members whose posts you do not wish to see. Ignored members' posts will not appear when you peruse the bulletin board. In addition, an 'Alert' button is conveniently located alongside each message to simplify the process of notifying us about problematic or abusive posts.

One of the problems that has been raised often is the fact that due to the high volume of posts on Straight Talk threads can disappear too quickly. The new board software works differently from Phorum in that it relists the thread at the top of the message list when someone replies in the thread. This should go a long way towards keeping threads alive.

The new software makes heavy use of cookies, so you will need to have those enabled to take advantage of new features.

Finally, there is one feature missing from the new board that some of you will find disappointing: the ability to peruse the board in threaded view. This is, regretfully, not a feature we can implement. However, the new navigation and functionality which will be introduced should help offset this discrepancy to some degree, if not eliminate the need for threaded view entirely.

We hope you will find that the new board addresses many of the issues raised in the past. As always, we welcome your feedback and look forward to seeing you on the new board!

    Sincerely,
    pbm

Are you using UBB for the new board??

Will the new software continue to list posters' IP numbers? Or with registration, will that no longer be necessary?
