This is my situation, I want a real cc. I have done as much credit repair as I can for now. What is left on my reports are: My Equifax score is 671, Transunion 720, and Experian 583 (that one sucks!) Anyway, Everyone talks about BOFA as one of the best...so that's the one I'm going for... I know that they pull Equifax...my report looks like this: no collections... Capital One - $700 cl - 3 times 30 day late back in 1999... Capital One - $500 cl never late... Friedman's - $1400 cl - never late... Friedman's - $0 - never late... Household bank - $300 cl - never late... Zale - $0 - never late... Providian Financial - $1832 ACCOUNT CLOSED BY CREDIT GRANTOR... (Providian was payed off to collection agency but it is not reflected on my report yet...) and that's it... Can someone please let me know just what cc to go for without being turned down. Thank you so very much!
That would be much better for me (smile)... I live in Georgia. I wonder what report they pull... I really hope it's not Experian...
I applied for A BOA Gold Card with a 680 EQ, and got approved. They pulled EQ for me. I am in Louisiana. I had some derogs, but they were all old. I think if you apply on-line, the process is strictly score driven.
You may also want to look at some of the Options Chase has to offer. They seem to check TU exclusively.
If you apply for BoA online, and get turned down, you can always call Robin Bricklin for a manual review, she can override the system. I know she has done a lot for a lot of people, including me
I woke up this morning and ran to my computer to see what responses I would get... Thank you for your advice and answers.... The more I read post on creditnet the more I wonder If I am even going in the right direction... I just want to increase my credit rating, in a fast and effective way.... Is credit cards the answer? store cards vs. credit cards... it's kinda hard because I don't really know what to expect when I apply... I really don't want to get turned down, but maybe that's all apart of the process? I worked so hard to clean up my credit, and now I look like a baby... not much on there, is that good or bad? what would be the best way for me to get credit? from reading posts after post - it's to get a "real" cc with someone you can build a long term relationship with, I had providian - they sucked! I have two cap ones - crazy high rates! I have a household - high rates, and no limit increase yet... I really want AMEX because of how I like to pay my bills... but I guess I need to wait on that one, once my scores get a little higher... frustrated creditneter!
If your TU looks good, Chase seems to always check TU (even for me here in Louisiana). I have a 690 with 1 derog, but I cant get a Chase. I guess you have to be completely clean
Here is a question along the lines of obtaining a B of A cc.... say we raise our scores to an acceptable level to qualify, but we've had bounced checks on our B of A checking account. Will that hurt us down the line?
B of A is also receptive to reconsideration via PFB requests in case you are turned down. Robin is the best!
Another BofA question: We were recently approved by bofa for a car loan. We are not actually purchasing the vehicle until Sept, but needed approval to order it. I'm considering going w/ Ford for our financing, but would like to get in w/ BofA. We were approved for 26k, 7k down (our choice), plus we were getting 4k in rebates. My dh's TU score is 686, Exp 666 (here they pulled both on us for the auto) I am considering applying for a cc w/ them. Do we have a shot? btw our negs are 1996 BK and 1 CA in dispute (on TU) and 1996 BK and 1 incl in bk (on Exp). The one condition that they had on the auto loan was to have that 1 CA paid prior to loan date - anyone know if they are more leniant w/ auto loans but more hardnosed on the cc's? I would really love to get a prime card, but am gun shy to apply. As of today, my only cc's are 2 cap1's (secured and platinum mc), 1st Premier, and Jcp and Aafes store cards. My utilization is about 60% but of course where cap1 doesn't report true limits it appears I am almost 90%. I'm thinking we don't have a shot. Maybe apply and go for the secured card?
