B of A and BK = No Way...

I received a B of A platinum Visa back in 99- they were able to approve it ($5k) with a BK (95) due to unusual circumstances (no personal debt included in BK) under a reconsideration.

Just applied for the USAir Visa, was instantly declined, and they also declined it upon reconsideration.

The rep. told be that the BK had to be removed (or fall off in 3 years) before they could reconsider it.

Kind of strange, actually, since I've had non-stop limit increases (now @ 13.5k) and a pretty good experience with them.

So, we can take B of A off of the list of "good cards" for folks with a BK (any reason).

Have you tried asking to switch card programs rather then applying for a second one?

That's kind of what I'm going to do --

I'm going to take part of my Plat. Visa credit line and apply it to the "new" card ... and in 6 months they will both go up in CL.

I wanted to put this warning out - though- because I'm frequently mentioned how BofA was willing to consider the BK facts & surrounds and not auto-decline (like FUSA, Amex, etc.). It looks like things have changed.

NANA- if you're watching this -

    1. B of A now needs BK to fall off report
    2. Citi will consider with BK > 7 years
    3. FUSA still won't consider until BK falls off
    4. Amex changed from 7 years to must fall off
