HI CN community. I have been a member for 3 years. Thanks to CN I was able to bring my credit score up to a 589 and buy my first house. I requested validation of a debt and it was removed.

3 years later, I notice that my score has not improved greatly even though my mortgage has been paid on time for the past 3 years. Now, I am ready to have litigious mind.

I have sent my 2nd validation letter to a CA regarding a utility bill. Any advice or suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I did read in one of the archives from a member that utility are hard to dispute.

    thanks

Is the debt amount correct and owed by you, or is there a basis for disputing the amount or other information of the debt? Was any deposit made, and if so has that amount been correctly accounted for?

Sometimes with utilities it is still possible to pay the utility directly and get the account removed.

I don't know. I have done business with the OC a couple of years ago but the amount looks wrong. If they show me proof of the debt, it is not a problem for me to pay it. But the optimal situation would be to have the CA removed from my credit report. I don't want it to listed as a paid charge off.

I am in the process of sending 2nd validation letter. The CA did not respond to me the first time.

How much is it for? Why not try to do a pay for delete if it's not a lot of $?

The amount is a couple of hundred and I have the money to pay. I am going to try to negotiate $$$ for delete. Thanks for all the helpful advice.

The CA came off. The CRA did not remove it the during the first validation request. I requested a second investigation and the procedures the CRA used to determine validity. Thanks Creditnet Community. Before starting I read through the archives reading list posted by Pshydoc and Butch the information was very helpful. My score went up 40 points on my reports. I am still not part of the 700 club but I am very close. Next I am going to try the nutcase letter on some closed accounts and see if that push me over in the 700's.
