I have a previous address listed on my Equifax report that I never lived at. I've disputed it at least 3 or 4 times now and it keeps coming back. I've spoken with Equifax and they tell me that one of my creditors must be reporting it. I disputed the old address last week and it disappeared, then it just reappeared again today. The only creditors that have updated my tradelines this month are ones that I have open accounts with and I get bills from them regularly, so I know they have my correct address. Does anyone have any ideas to get rid of this? Thanks, Brett
There needs to be someone trying to report the information to Equifax with that address... Note that its not always a company which is showing up as a reporting source, could it be that one of the companies which you requested to validate, and verify their listing is still automatically trying to report an account to them with the incorrect information. They can still attempt to report, even though the CRA has to deny the report if it was unverified. Or a company may have used that address when they attempted to request your credit report for some type of inquiry. I don't think there is a way that you could flag the account to report who is reporting what, but I just caught a company reporting the wrong address after I had given their attorney the correct information almost a year ago... The only way I was able to have definative proof of who was causing the hassle was it had split my TransUnion (theirs was the only one listed on the split file), and reported twice with two different account numbers on Experian.
