I filed a chapter 7in 5/98, discharged 10/98. All was good as far as working on credit. Job loss since 8/01, so with the exception of my major bills such as car note, etc., all of my cerdit cards are delinquent, closed by the company. I had two Providians, two cap 1, i was able to salvage one acct with them but the other went to collections. Providian told me that once the acct was paid for they would reinstate, but I feel defeated, like all this work for nothing. I never want to file BK again, and I do not want to do CCC, for fear of what it would do to my credit, maybe make it worse. I felt that I should just pay monthly what I owe or whatever the collection agency will do with me since I have now stated a job, and not spply for credit for a couple of years, pay cash for awhile, I don't know can someone please advise?

    shotcaller,

sorry to say that i am not in a good position to advise you, but i thought that i ought to ask you whether you have any money or any assets you would be willing to sell (stereo components, etc.) so that you could negotiate settlements with at least a few of these original creditors. i know that since i am a newcomer to this site, i am not the one to talk with about credit report disputing, etc., but hopefully that could work for you also. can you see if the CAs actually have a legal right to collect by validation letters? have you done any of that yet?

so, is this right: you now have a job, and you will soon be in a position to at least pay something to each creditor...or is money still too tight? because i am thinking perhaps you have some good leverage to negotiate with... can you offer a little info into what you have done so far and where that's gotten you with the collection agencies and the original creditors?

don't despair. there are options available to you, and i know that many on this site have great ideas. posting a little more info might get you a few more responses.

    best wishes,

    soren
