I just got approved for the Target Visa for $10,000 a few days ago and the day before that applied for a citi smart card but will have to wait for reply. I just came across a First USA banner add for 0% APR for 6 months which is what im lookin to do. (the citi i applied for is 1.9% for 9 months) Now that i have 2 inq pulled in the last week should i try it and say no more OR just wait to see what citi gave or denied me and call it quits... Thanx
FirstUSA is supposed to be a prime lender, but they do not have the best reputation. They're famous for increasing rates. There was a class action lawsuit against them not too long ago. I would probably wait for Citi's reply and then decide from there. Congrats on the Target Visa. Dani
I have tried to get first usa aol and another card they offer denied...You must need a fico of 700+ but tey did experian 4 me and that was 696 score
BEWARE of FirstUSA. Firstly because they will use ANY excuse to jack up your rates once they have you beholden to them - even during your supposedly 0% BT promo period and secondly, because they use Two Cycle billing. They also have messed up my credit report after I had a billing dispute with them. They continue to show "No Status" where it should read Open/Never Late. What this does is skewer my debt to Credit Limit ratios for score purposes because a No Status account doesn't factor the credit limit into the ratios but it does factor in the balance (go figure!). When I dispute the Status with Experian it comes back verified from FUSA, penalizing me for daring to dispute a billing error which was resolved in my favor last summer. Yes, FUSA, VERY Bad idea! Mist
By the way, I paid off FUSA back in September. Just keeping it for ratios if I can ever get the Status reinstated - have managed to get EQ and TU to update it but Experian won't.
Hmmm so far i think i will pass them on. I want a 0% apr bt but not sure if i got the Citi SmartCard. O well if i get denied i will stop askin for credit and jus build upon age and never late
I second that - and I was a customer rep for FirstUSA, 96-98. They removed the grace period (Meaning if the payment is due on the 20th and it hits the 21st you hit with a late fee and the rates go up). They closed the Dallas office in 98 and I was laid off. It turned out to be the best thing for me. A month later 20/20 did 2 stories on FUSA holding payments an extra 2-3 days to get the fees and Phil Graham, a senator from Texas launched an investigation. Had I stayed and kept stock I would have lost my hat. Dropped from $45 to $29 in less than a week! Talk about getting kicked off the Titanic... GT
