When's the best time to put in credit card balance transfer credit cards requests? Is it ok to put it when you're still applying for the card? Or wait until you get approved before telling them?

I think it depends on what the card is offering. Several weeks ago, I was on the phone with a BoA telemarketer, it was for a 12 month 0% with no credit card balance transfer fees. I signed up and accepted it, thinking I could probably get the balance transfer offer later. When I received it, i had a $15,000 credit limit, but there was also a 3% credit card balance transfer fee. I called them and was informed that no fees for balance transfers was only if you specified it when you applied.

I still use the card but only because it has a 0% APR on purchases, but I would have loved the no credit card balance transfer fees.

If you call and know that you are approved, then it's a good deal to transfer then.

The problem is if you don't get instant approval and you've already requested the transfer. Then you get the card, and the rate is higher than you anticipated, and your balances are transferred at the higher rate, not the intro rate advertised.

Also, make sure that you make payments on the card you're transferring the balances off of until you get confirmation that the transfer has posted.
