If I do a balance transfer for more than I owe on the card, does the card you're paying off, automatically send you a check for the overpayment or do you have to request it?

There has only been one instance where I wasn't planning to burn my overpayment (credit) the next month. I transferred a balance, then called to request the check as soon as my statement closed. The check arrived in about a week.

Isn't there a requirement (or something) that a credit balance has to be refunded if it's there more than 1 or 2 billing cycles?

I always ask to refund it after a week, unless I am going to use it within a month.

I never call, but I never leave a credit of more than $100. They have always sent it within months.
You should ask for it, there is no reason for you to let them use your money for nothing.
