Who is currently offering balance transfers at 0% for six months or more with no fee? Thanks in advance.

Citi Platinum (if you get the offer)...some have requested it and gotten it. When I tried to help my mom get this offer (she got a pre-approved 0% no fee Citi offer in the mail), when she got the card she found that she had no such option. I called and the rep would NOT add the option to the card, made me read the pre-approval code that I had from the application and after arguing a bit and FAXING it to her (she didnt believe me I guess) FINALLY extended the offer to her. Wierd, but Citi has 0% no fee 6 month offer and this was earlier this month which goes through June.

    Dave,

So I can't apply unless I receive a pre-approved letter from them? Sorry, if I'm mistaken I just want to make sure.

On the web page, citi is offering 0% for 9 months for new accounts, but I didn't look to see if there was a fee.

I was just approved online for Discover Platinum--they're offering fee-free BT at 0% till July 2002, goes to 12.99% thereafter. I believe the 0% is also good on purchases, so you wouldn't have to hide it in the sock drawer till July.

I think the only companies offering 0% for at least six months are Discover and Amex Blue, unfortunately, I already have both so it doesn't include me. Discover said the lowest they could offer me now is 9.99% and Amex refuses to budge from 12.99%. I was thinking of Juniper. They're offering 1.9% for six months, but I don't know. I was planning on transferring $8000 over and I didn't know if they would offer me a credit limit that high or not. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Hey, what about Chase Platinum? I sometimes get offers for 0% for 12 months on BTs in the mail. I'm not sure if there's a fee associated with it, but it might be worth checking into. I've applied twice and have been swatted down like a fly, so...no Chase for me. :( Good luck!

The Chase Platinum for 12 months would be great, but I couldn't find anything on their website. Is it only certain times of the year they offer it? Also, what kind of score and income do I need? I range between 694-746?

    Dani,

The AmEx Blue 0% for 6 months is for purchases only - not BT's. The BT's are 9.9% for the life of the transfer.

I haven't seen an AmEx product that offers 0% BT rates yet.

I think it's offered year round, though I haven't received anything from them recently. I don't know what their standards are, but I've been denied twice with a FICO of about 680 and no derogs. On the other hand, my fiance, whose reports are littered with judgments, collections, and chargeoffs, receives these "pre-approvals" as well, so who knows?

Dani, No that is not exactly what I meant...but it is what I had to go through with my mom...she was offered 0% but WITH a fee after she got the card. I told her and the Citi rep that is NOT what she was offered in her per-approval. The pre-approved offer she received was 0% and no fee for 6 months on BT's. You could apply for a Citi card and may get 0% but I believe the no fee is through an offer sent by Citi only. Sam, Saar, or Mindy may know more about this than I.

I would call Citi and see what they tell you without applying yet...get some info first. Good luck.
