I've been paying down my balances and it seems the lower they get, the longer they take to update. Typically DMB sends a statement on the 1st, updates happen in two weeks. Almost three weeks and no sign. AARRGGH!

You know if I ran up $2k, before I paid it off two weeks later it would appear the next day.

Called EXP and they told me - no, I'm not making this up - they won't "investigate" a wrong balance until 90 days has passed since the last update.

Anyone have good/bad balance stories? I paid these suckers down months ago and I'm still not seeing the results in my score.

DISCOVERCARD BALANCE $17,500 FOR 3 MONTHS (did not owe more than $100 in that 3 months)

DISPUTED FOR 3 MONTHS IN A ROW...so they put a NEGATIVE COMMENT ON IT--CONSUMER DISPUTES ACCOUNT

    I DISPUTED THE BALANCE!!!
    THE ACCOUNT WAS MINE!!!
I OWED NO MORE THAN $100!!!

DISCOVERCARD said they did not put it there...the CRA's didn't put it there...

I wonder how it got there???

At some point you may be thankful for the slow reporting... depends on your situation I suppose. If your waiting for the update in order to apply for something, just call the company and ask them to update the balance.

I disputed a balance and they deleted the account.
In retrospect I like hidden lines of credit so worked for me

    • I've got a story for you ... in Aug one of my accoutns was reported as "in dispute". I have never disputed the balance or the account with neither the DF or the CRA. Called the DF and asked them what to do. They said I have to write a letter to their Credit Bureau Disputes department. I said, OK, in this case my letter will be considered a dispute and then the account will be reported accurately. They didn't know what to say ...

So, after all - how do you dispute that your account is "in dispute" when you haven't disputed it?

      :)
