I have a couple of inquries showing up on some of my reports from opening up our checking accounts. In anyone's experience are these type of inquiries easy to dispute off?? One was almost a year ago and one was in May of 2001. Anybody have any luck? Also, what is a decent number of inquries to even have??? When is too many too many?? I have about 3 or 4 per report, if that. (And even better if my disputes work-(fingers XXXXXXX'd) Hubby has maybe 6 or 8 on his reports. I'm working on disputing some of those also. Only two of his are for credit (Providian and car loan). One is for switching our car insurance to the new state we moved to (St.Farm), one is for utilities, one is for the property management place we used when we moved here and two are the banks. I guess you just have to live with these?? Just curious on anyone's opinions or experiences. Thanks! Sorry if a silly quesion! I am NEWSTDT for a reason!! I CAN'T figure out your signature lines or use of color and part of it is because I'm lazy even though I've been around awhile! Take pity please!
You should have got REFERRAL LETTERS, or I gave them a DEPOSIT if they wouldn't accept the letter!!! I told them I am NOT going to give my SS#...I DON'T CARE IF I HAVE TO HAVE A DEPOSIT OF $200.00 +/- FOR 6 MONTHS... I WOULD DISPUTE THEM IMMEDIATELY...I DID NOT APPLY FOR A "CREDIT CARD" FROM THAT COMPANY...
Having worked at a bank, they will pull your credit to see if you are a good risk to open the account, which never made since to me. They say that they don't trust someone with atm and debit cards who have bad credit. They claim that people with bad credit had a higher rate of abuse for atm/debit card then others. Such as deposit empty envelopes into the atm machines and pull out money. So they claim they have to pull a CR on everyone who opens an account. But I can tell you the real reason is because they want to get you into a loan. Where I use to work, if you didn't have a score of 600 or more, there was no use giving you an account because they could never get you into a loan (LOC, credit cards, car loans, 2nd Mort etc.)!
Well, I'm going to try to dispute them off. I thought banks just verified chex systems! I didn't know they pulled credit! Doesn't seem fair but the loan factor makes sense. It looks like they pulled from two of the three CRA's for each of us too. Bullies!!! Oh well, back to the drawing board... Thanks guys! P.s. George, you're right, I should have gotten a referral letter for my phone and utilites before we moved. That would have been a smart thing to do!!! I'll just leave those for now, we won't be applying for a home loan until well after they get dropped. I just wonder if those type of inquiries carry any weight with a potential creditor or if they just overlook them as it's pretty obvious what they're for if you moved.
TRY THIS ANYWAY... I WOULD DISPUTE THEM IMMEDIATELY...I DID NOT APPLY FOR A "CREDIT CARD" FROM THAT COMPANY...
