BANK CHARGE OFF I am having a problem with a bank charge-off thats been placed on my credit. Basically what happened is, I was out of town dealing with a family members death when a electronic payment was presented to my bank for payment. I did not have enough funds in the account to cover it but they paid it anyway. A little over a month had passed and the bank closed my account and promptly charged off the payment they made. I received no notification from them at all prior to them doing this. I still have my business accounts with this same bank (Wachovia) as I have for the past 18 years. I have tried several times calling their recovery dept. and have been told flat out each time they will not remove this from my credit regardless if I pay the money or not. They offered me a large discount to just pay it but I told them I was not interested in their discount. I offered payment in full in exchange for the removal of the charge off and they said forget it. What can I do in a case like this? Anything? I asked them why they charged it off so quick and they said policy. I asked why they didn't just return the electronic transfer unpaid since the money was not in the account, they said it's their decision to pay or not pay. I asked why I wasn't notified, their reply was they didn't know how to contact me.(Total LIe). My credit has always been excellent prior to this. Do I have to just live with this for the next 7 years?
Re: BANK CHARGE OFF I would do a search for the officers of the bank and send letters to each one explaining what happened and ask them to rectify the situation for a long term customer. Maybe also send a planetfeedback.com letter.
