BANK / FAST 1 I made a $ 300 payment. When I got my statement they only credited me with $297. I sent them a copy of the canceled $300 check. Got a letter from them today stating they credited me $297 for the $300 check and $3 cash back. What a racket. Any ideas what to do next? ><- <>- ><- <> ~~~ ><- <>- ><- <> ><- <>- ><- <> ~~~ ><- <>- ><- <>
Is the bank state or federally chartered? Perhaps file complaint with the Comptroller of the Currency?
for CC issues and banks you would contact the federal reserve to file a complaint they are located in VA only some complaints can go to the BFI and others go to COC. I would first try talking to the bank manager to see if you get results. bank one I think has many locations but if you are located in MI they have been already been flagged as nortious for this. another thing is to go to ripoffreport.com and list your issue you may get additional info. or lawguru, com and speak to an attorney from your state. and ask a free legal question good luck
Re: Re: Bank / Fast 1 Doesn't seem worth it to deal with the bank and hunt them down for a $3 credit. If they do this a lot, looks like they are skimming a few dollars here and there and people are letting it go because of the hassle to retrieve a few dollars. If it really bothers you, and **I suspect it does** contact goverment officials like AG, FDIC, and whatever else you can think of.

I personally found the attorney general wasn't concerned enough to get involved with this situation as they usually deal with criminal activity. I have been this route in relation to a CC problem and FDIC insures deposits directly related with the bank I don't see this covering a CC payment the fed reserve is the way to go to get results they work with the FTC to enforce regs to protect the consumers.

Re: Re: Re: Bank / Fast 1 Did you go to the bank or mail it? If they credited $3 and sent you $297, I think they would do it by check. So, they would have the canceled check to prove it.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Bank / Fast 1 it really makes no sense why would you go to the bank to make a payment on your CC and get back 3$ change.. I would say you since you have your reciept the CC should fully credit you, and the bank would have to show record of a transaction for a withdrawl authorized by you for that date and amount. is it possible the bank charged you a 3$ transaction fee ? it's worth looking into.

Even if they did where is the paper work documentation for the fee? 4*Something sure needs looked into, ><- <>- ><- <> ~~~ ><- <>- ><- <> ><- <>- ><- <> ~~~ ><- <>- ><- <>
have you contacted the Federal reserve yet ? or pulled the BBB reliability report for the banks corporate office? since you have a transaction reciept I would make them prove where your 3$ went to under the FCBA if your statement shows otherwise. I thinkyou only have 30 or 60 days to file a written dispute with your creditor under the FCBA about the payment discrep. hope this helps ya let us know what happens
If a bank is "losing" money and can't account for it, this can be an indication that other parts of their operations have "problems", whether due to incompetence or deliberate theft. They are audited both internally, and externally. All aspects of all transactions are tracable, including if cash does not balance for a particular teller on a particular day. Notify the bank officer responsible for their internal audits in writing. If you did not get cash back, there should be no payment or deposit slip with your signature for cash back. If there is no slip, you did not get cash back.
