I've been cleaning up my credit reprot for the last year and have made alot of progress. On Friday I went to my bank to deposit money and found out that providan has a levy against my account. It's a good thing I only had $20 in it.

I owed them $2500, and the sol is not up until 2006. The levy is for $9275. How is that possible?
How did they get the levy? I never was served court papers? I'm so fed up I've decided to just go ahead and file bankruptcy.

Oh yeah, I've checked all reports and thier is no judgement on them so, ho did they get this levy?

One more thing, I never used this account to pay any bills to them. This account was new. I used my old bank to write checks back in 2000.

    Please help

    1*What about late fees
    over the limit fees
    & finance charges?
2*They must have gotten a default judgment somehow.

Do not put any more money in this account as they will keep it cleaned out.

you need to check the court yourself and get a copy of the judgment, maybe you can get it vacated for improper service
