I wrote PF to reconsider my application for the Alaska Airlines Classic Visa. (I'm going to Europe and need more Visa cards) Unfortunately, they pulled Trans Union (I had expected Experian as they pulled that for my brother). I got a call yesterday and was excited, because in my experience they never call if they want to tell you where to go. Unfortunately, the nice rep (Robin) said she could not approve me. However, she took the time to tell me what they look for. Negatives, especially medical and old paid ones, are not a huge deal if: Inquiries are low (she said the number depends on the file but I was getting high) Current balances are 60% or less of credit lines. There is at least 1 year of payment on REVOLVING credit with no lates. She gave me the impression that only decent places like MBNA and Citibank counted for that. My student loans didn't cut it. Anyways, it's a bit harder than Citibank but not impossible. I'll just keep working that TU report and apply again in August, when my accounts age.
Hmmm... when "Ms. X" (Robin's associate) manually approved me for a BofA card, I had LOTS of INQs and one tradeline well over 60% utilization. But I had no negatives at all. Saar
