Hello Everyone! I have a BOA charge off that's been in my credit report for 2 years. This account is currently handled by a collection agency, I've already sent DV letters to the CA and they responded saying that they will provide me the info i requested in 30. Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever been successful in have BOA remove a CO? I can afford to pay the debt now but i would like this derogatory mark off my credit report. Thanks,
I've corresponded with many people via the forum that have had success working with Bank of America on charge offs. Has this debt already been sold to the CA, or is it still with BOA? Is a collection reporting on your credit reports as well?
It seems that the debt wasn't sold to the collector, the last time they contact me they told me that they're working on BOA's behalf. The only agency reporting the charge off is BOA.
The CA won't be able to do anything for you regarding the charge-off. If possible, you'll want to see if you can get your account pulled back from the CA so you can work directly with BOA's in-house team regarding payment and removal of the charge off.
I spoke with a representative and they say they can't, is there another approach or should i keep on trying?
I decided to call back, and they say they'll try to pull the account back by April 20 as long as I pay the debt in full. They told me to call them on that date, I have not talked to them about removing the charge off of this account. If the account gets pulled back on that date, should i ask for a charge off removal? Do you think this would work?
Get anything they agree to in writing first. If they're able to pull the account back from collections, then I would definitely push for removal of the charge-off in return for payment in full. It could work, so I think it's worth a try.
