Still a little hesitant to post, now that the board has entered its post-CreditWrench phase, LOL.

    Well, here goes:

Applied online for a Bank of America Visa Platinum. Got a 60-second denial ("too many INQs"). Called them for reconsideration, a credit analyst has reviewed my application but won't change the decision.

Wrote a PFB letter to the Bank CEO. An executive assistant to the CEO left a message on my voicemail. I gave her a call, she was so friendly & understanding. She asked that I give them a couple more hours to review my application.

Result: Approved for the card, initial credit line is $5,000.

DO NOT TAKE "NO" FOR AN ANSWER. Be persistent -- it works!

Congrats on the card, Saar.. Glad to see you're back..

It will be nice to have people respond to questions with actual advice instead of people obnoxiously selling their own credit repair method.. ahhh, the post Credit Wench era..

Saar, you are up there as one of the most powerful posters on Creditnet. In all the years I have been visiting, this is the first time someone has accomplished what you have.

    Congratulations and welcome back.

Thanks for your kind words :)

BTW, if anyone needs the # for B of A Retention, just send $35 to the SaarWrench program... ok, ok, don't yell! :) Here it is:

Retention agents may be able to offer you some goodies that Customer Service reps won't.

Saar- welcome back and congrats on B of A. I've a similar situation with them. They're on my "good list" because they can have a real human look at a situation.

B of A can override decisions if you plead your case. They like to do that in writing - and the fax# for the new accounts center (in Phoenix) is 602-597-2208, address it to "Supervisor/Credit Officer" and include your reference #.

I was able to get an override (denial due to BK that was 4 years old - my plea was that none of my personal credit was listed, and I had a number of positive trades and no derogs).

I've been very happy with B of A - they've grown my limit to $12k and reduced my APR to 9.9 (with tons of BT offers from 1.9 to 3.9%). The problem is that (like most cards) payments apply to lower APR balances first, so if you do BT's, leave the card in your sock drawer, otherwise the $20 charge you make at the gas station will rack up interest until you pay off your BTs first.

    Good luck-

    MJ ..

I have to ask at what intervals has BofA made you offers? I am a BofA user since 2/01.. started at 6800, took the entire balance as BT on a 8.9% for life BT, just got a raise this month to a CL to 9300- Owe about 5100. Do you think they will make me an offer or am I stuck until paid off? 8.9 isn't bad.. I am thankful to have it.. just trying to get the BEST. I am sure you understand.

    What score does BOA like?

I hope to get their Alaska Airlines gold or platinum by mid to late next year. On an inquiry free credit diet until March or April.

Welcome back. BoA has been great with me. Started with 5000 11/00 and now 6500. Bal Tran
offers all the time. Prime rate for life last month.
Took them up on it for 2000. Paid off Get Smart with
    APR of 7.99.

Once again good to see you. Let me take this
time to wish you as well as all of the Creditneter's
    a blessed Holiday season.
