I got home last night and had a letter from Bank One increasing the limit on one of my cards from $15,800 to $18,200. Funny thing is, my credit report still shows the limit as $9,400. I guess they don't update the credit limit once they upgrade you to the Signature Visa with no preset spending limit.
Congrats, on your CLI. I just got my a few days ago. I'm not a big fan of Bank One but it is my bank and it's the only one that has United miles. How often do they do a CLI? What kind of pattern usage and payment patterns do you use to keep Bank One happy? Best regards, Mirage
I don't know when they last gave me an increase, but it's been within the last year. I charge $1,000-$2,000 per month and pay it off each month. I always pay the minimum as soon as it bills so I know I'm covered. Last month I screwed up and didn't get the main payment in until after the due date, so I carried a balance for about three days. I don't know if that had any impact or not. I just got a BT offer of 4.9% until paid. I'm thinking about doing a BT of my 7.9% and 5.9% to this card and not using it for purchases for a while. The only problem is that I'd lose accruing miles until I paid it off. I was actually hoping that if I do that, Citi will give me a 3.9% until paid and I'd transfer it back to them.
UNITED VISA... I have not got a CLI in 18 MONTHS!!! 6 MONTHS OR MORE AGO I WAS BASICALLY TOLD---"WE WILL INCREASE IT WHEN WE FEEL LIKE IT" So I sent an E-MAIL asking IF THEY FEEL LIKE IT YET NO ANSWER AND NO CLI
That's what this is--United Visa. That's why I'm torn about doing a BT to this card. But I'm hoping if I BT everything away from Citi, they'll give me another low rate for life of the BT, then I can send it back to Citi.
Hedwig, thanks for the info. I have the Bank One Signature United with a starting 5k Cl and do not plan on carrying a balance. But from the way they are treating George it looks like if a CLI is considered paying your balance in full each month has a negative impact with Bank One. Best regards, Mirage
I did carry a balance of several thousand dollars for a while, but I've been paying in full for several years now.
Hi Hedwig - congrats on SIGNATURE VISA. My question is - can you BT to a Bank One SIGNATURE? My US Bank SIGNATURE does not allow BTs. The WORLD MC from CHASE accepts BTS - and they again will let the Dogman go to $10K with a BT. I was curious if the BT to SIGNATURE feature was an individual bank policy? I liked my old old United GOLD VISA from First Bank of Chicago - about 1993. aarfff - dogman
dogman, I did not see the a BT rate nor does the BT option allowable on my Bank One online account. I did not know there is a Visa United Gold version until I logged on to United Airlines's website. Wondering if Bank One still offers it. Best regards, Mirage
UAL--BANK ONE VISA SIGNATURE ME $7,500 (18 MONTHS) NO BT AVAILABLE HER $5,000 (16 MONTHS) BT 1.99% or 5.99%
I have the Bank One United Gold Class Signature Visa. I currently have a 1.99% bt with them which will be paid off before I start spending big on travel and other expenses again....about two months. I can either do a bt to them and earn miles by using the regular purchase rate with this Gold class card, or use the low special bt rates with no miles. I get a notice each month about specials. With the Gold class card, I get double miles on United purchases. I have had this card for two years, and have been greatly satisfied with the service. My credit access line is over $20,000 which is sufficient for my needs. It has been my experience that the credit limit is not reported...just the highest balance.
Re: Bank One/First USA Limit Increa Hi, dogman. I got a letter and convenience checks from Bank One to do the BT with the letter informing me of the CL increase. The card has been a Signature Visa for about a year. So, maybe they only offer BTs by invitation. I'm thinking more and more that I'll take this deal.
