Can a married woman file bankruptcy under the cards in her name only or will her husband still be affected?

First of all, make sure you live in a state that premits one spouse to file without the other.
The next question is do you own any joint assets like a home or a car? If so, you'll have to list all of your creditors and those loans will carry a notation on his credit report saying included in bankruptcy even though he didn't file.
You should speak with a lawyer. Most give free initial consultations .
