I disputed a collection agency from Colorado like ten times but they kept verifying. This was the account that I had tried to pay off in 1997 ($718) but didn't know there was still an outstanding balance of $87, and it kept accruing interest. It ended up being around $200. I found that out by calling them and asking why it was still on my credit reports.
Thanks to creditnet, I started repairing my credit. I first sent them a Payment for Removal letter. They responded by saying they can't remove it, only notating it by "Paid Chargeoff". I didn't want that so I started sending them validation letters. While this was going on, they still kept verifying with the bureaus!!
I also called Austin to see if they had a bond to collect in the State of Texas and found out that they did not. They had not responded to the validation letters and I really didn't want to go to court so I got onto the better business bureau site and pulled up the company. It said the collection agency had an unsatisfactory account with them so I said, what the heck, and filed a complaint.
On the complaint, I notated the exact dates that were on the green cards and I used the manager's name (on the letter sent to me that said they cannot delete). On the letter, I also said that they violated the FCRA by verifying without validating and that they also had no bond.
I disputed a day later with the bureaus (a few weeks ago), and lo and behold, they're gone now from the reports, lol.
Hopefully this'll help some one else like it helped me.
    Good luck all!!

I have filed complaints with the BBB on three creditors who verify but do not validate. Too soon to know whether it will work. I did mention that I had filed the complaint with each of them on their next validation request, and told them I would file complaints with the FTC and State's Attorney General if they did not respond. I thought this might give them cause to worry, and delete.
