I just got an email from 2 of the BBB that I filed complaints with. #1 is for my mother's mortgage that is paid off but showing 2 late payments in 96. She had the house financed for 20 yrs and was late twice out of the whole time. I sent a BBB letter asking how much do they value their customers and when someone pays 19.75 yrs on time and is 31 days late twice out of 340 times why would they be so persistent on reporting that a negative? Well they said they are removing the late payments. #2 I sent a BBB for one of my collection accounts, just happens the CA is registered with the BBB as a BBB cares member. The email says the company has informed them (BBB) they have made an error in reporting adverse information on my credit report and it will be removed from all 3 immediately. It might help that I sent them a validation letter (they signed for it last week), but either way it's a goner now.
Fantastic Christi! That is great news and another great avenue for us to persue. Since others had limited success with the BBB, maybe this will give them renewed faith and resubmit their complaints. Thanks for the information and congrats! -Peace, Dave
What did you say to the BBB to get that reaction from the collection company. I just sent out 8 validation letters last week.
Is the complaint submitted to my local BBB or the BBB where the company is located? Which seems more effective?
I submitted all complaints (9 total) online and I used the BBB where the company is located. I got very detailed about how they are damaging my credit and that I am about to take legal action etc etc. It worked for 2...7 to go. I also had validation letters out to these 9 people as well, so I'm not sure which was more effective, but the response came via the BBB.
