Before I know any better, 2 years ago, I paid CA in full without asking for verification, validation, or deletion TL. I later learned that the negative TL is still in my CR since then. 5 weeks ago, I sent this CA a goodwill letter begging them to delete the TL. However, I never heard a word from them. They might have ignored me? Any suggestion what else can I do now? Thanks!
Your goodwill letter probably hit the round file as soon as it got there. Try disputing the item with the CRA's first. The account has been paid for 2 years, so it is very likely the agency no longer has any records. Even if they do, they got paid so there is no reason to spend time verifying now. Whatever you do, don't acknowledge that the debt was yours or that you paid it. Then you've just cemented the tradeline for another 5 years.
That can't possibly happen and be legal. He paid the account 2 years ago he said and so the DOLA had to be long before that. If it stayed there another 5 years that would most definitely be an illegal reage of the debt.
