I'm an independant IT Consultant and I had no work for nearly a year in 2002 due to bad economy. I'm on a work visa in the States so I'm not eligible for any federal compensation for job loss. I have a debt of $15000. I couldn't make all my payments and I had to make a choice if I wanted to keep my apartment (rental), my car or make credit card payments. I couldn't pay my credit card as they also increased my interest rates to nearly 23% APR. I just got a notice from the the court that I'm being sued for non payment by the credit card company. I owe this particular company for only $4000 but they are asking me to pay $5500 including legal fees. Things were just starting to get better for me on the job front but I still can't afford to pay $4000 in one shot. I'll truly appreciate your advice on how I should handle this situation. Thanks

Lbrown I'm sure you don't really want to hear this...but your SIG lines are getting so onerous that you can't even seem to find your actual reply in them. How about paring it down a bit, huh? Also, your curt replies leave a bit to be desired...often simply a URL scattered in amongst your other SIG URLs... C'mon....clean it up a bit. aiki
