Best approach: MBNA 120 day lates?

My first post (although long-time lurker). I have read the intros, form letters and FAQ's and now I seek the valued wisdom of everyone here. I am willing to return the favor and help others someday.

I have and MBNA card with 4 120-day lates, and 3 90-day lates from 2002 and 2003 that I desperately wish to have removed. It was a time that I just became so aggravated by them, that I just refused to pay. Wow, that was the wrong move!

I paid the balance down from the approx. $6k owing to approx. $200 now. I keep the small balance just to keep the account open. I do not use it, and I have it set up to autopay the $15 payment each month.

What is the consensus for working with MBNA? Should I dispute through the CRA's and have them verify or should I send letters directly to MBNA? Has anyone used a letter (I see there are now various forms of the nutcase series) that was successful?

    Thanks in advance.

    Scotty.
