    Hello Everyone,

2 questions. How difficult is it to get a Best Buy card? My scores range between 630-700. I want to take advantage of the zero interest financing for a potential purchase.

For those of you who own laptops any particular brand you would endorse, and what brands would you stay away from.

Thanks in advance for your advice,
    EdG

Approved last year with 700, Checked Equifax in NY.
CL is 3500. Also, applied last week for Circuit City,
got the message will let you know, checked TU, my lowest with 641. Got 2500 card 8 days from applying

I would stay away from both for computers, especially
with rebates. I have always had good luck with Dell and Gateway.

Thanks for the info guys. Last time I checked my EQ fico was hovering at or near 700. I'm also leaning toward a Dell or Gateway.

You will be very happy with a DELL - forever. And they do back them and service them. Gateway is good but I question if there will be a Gateway in 2 yrs?

Don't do a Compaq now - HP is the one to buy and the one that will be serviced later.

We used DELL laptops - Inspirions at my large company. Many companies use them.

ALSO, I think DELL has the best onboard mouse - it is comfortable.

You will get approved with that score.

My Compaq didn't last 18 mos. I loved it but the parts are so cheap they aren't really meant to last. My AC adaptor connection (it's actually inside the unit) broke, they fixed it under warranty and then it broke again shortly after. Had an expert tell me they didn't fix it right, basically just patched it up so it would never have lasted long anyway. Live and Learn.

I'm looking into Sony too. Got advice on the regular board that they're good also.

Hubby keeps getting bugged by dell, but I'm still hesitant because of their parts....

Dell does their own financing and I think members here have even gotten approved shortly after a bk so I don't know what their standards are...anyone??

Not sure what you want to do with your laptop but if running Windows only apps is not critical take a look at Apple. The Powerbook G4 is truly excellent but a bit pricey, iBook is also a good machine.

You do not want Compaq. Their warranty is email only. No help available by phone. Any problem you have will get the generic response - try adding more ram, try a new program, try deleting some programs, try using only when there is a full moon, etc. Totally worthless technical support.

I had no problem getting Best Buy approval, but no idea what my scores were at that time
