Now, I know this information is everywhere. But it seems there is no ONE or TWO cards that people say are the easiest to get. My credit is totally screwed from about 5 years ago (when i was 18). I have tons of stuff I just simply never paid on that got charged off. I am having Lexington do the credit repair service due to lack of time. A few things have been deleted for the first cycle which is great, but in the meantime I need to pick up some credit building cards. I know people recommend Orchard, Providian, First Premier, etc for these. My goal is to do it right the first time without racking up inquires..

How many of these credit building cards do you recommend I get?

If I only am to get 2, which ones do you think I could get?

Should I do secured or unsecured?

I appreciate the help and know that this question has been answered billions of times in different permutations, I just don't seem to have the answer to my questions. I do a ton of reading on this board and it seems there is so much fluff. You have to read for literally hours to get good concrete information since half of it seems to be chat, heh.

None-the-less its an invaluable board and Im lucky its out there...

    TIA,
    AF

I encourage you to fix your own credit and not pay a law firm. You can do exactly what they would do and save that money for certified postage :)

I came to this board with 23 negatives in September. Five months later, I'm down to 3 negatives. It can be done. Start reading the first three posts THEN ask a bunch of questions or use the search tool.

    Good Luck.

Lexington Law charges 30-40$/month. I am a very busy person and my time is a bit more valuable then that. Is there any advantage to doing it yourself besides cost?

Secured cards are a good way to rebuild. It's also very helpful to your score if you have an installment loan.

This can be a car, motorcycle, etc. but the cheapest and easiest is a loan against a CD at a bank.

Credit unions are the easist to find that will do these type of loans. You only need to make about 6 payments then you can pay it off if you want to save some interest.
