I pulled my reports today and found on my experian report 1 negative. It's listed as Cred Protections Assoc Status: Paid,Closed/Colleciton account. Original Ammount: $56 This account came when Comcast screwed the pooch when I closed my account and moved. I'd like to have this removed from my history if possible and wondering what the best method was. I've read a lot on here, but haven't found a consensus. Perviously I had been told simply using the "I am not aware of this account" method works best. Any help is appreciated. Thank you
"This account came when Comcast screwed the pooch when I closed my account and moved." Did you notify Comcast to close the account when you moved? Did they close the account?
I went IN PERSON to drop off the box and pay the account in full. How something was missed is beyond me.
Did you get a receipt? Do you have your cancelled check? Did they continue to bill you for an open account after you closed it?
Re: Re: Best Method To Dispute Collection? I checked in to it at the time. It was over a year ago. What was on my reciept was paid, and what they were billing me was while I was there, I think the counter person was just a dolt.
Re: Re: Best Method To Dispute Collection? What records do you currently have? Your CR appears to show it as a collection account that was paid in collections. Did you pay the CA after it was sent to collections, or did you pay Comcast directly when closing the account and returning the box? Did you pay Comcast when you closed the account, they sent it to collection by mistake, you contacted them, and instead of pulling the account back and removing any collection entry, they marked the collection entry paid?
Re: Re: Re: Best Method To Dispute Collection? No, let me rephrase. When I was moving, I turned in the box and asked ot pay the balance in full. I believe what happened is that for some reason, the entire balance wasn't paid, or one period wasn't paid. When they sent the bills to my old address, I did not recieve them. I didn't hear from them until 6-8 months later when I recieved the collection notice. I called Comcast and explained the situation and they really didn't have an explination. They showed what the billings were for, and that they weren't paid. I agreed. Why it happend is anyones guess, but I legitimately owed the money, and never recieved the bill. I promptly paid that to (the collections people) to avoid any further problems. I'm guessing now that was a mistake, but is there any way I can remove the collections from my otherwise spotless record?
Re: Re: Re: Best Method To Dispute Collection? This might be a long shot, but if you can call Comcast they probably have a phone#/address for a corporate office through the representative. I would write to them explaining the situation. Since it is such a small amount and if you address the fact that you didn't receive the outstanding balance letters and paid it as soon as you knew about it they MIGHT agree to remove it for you if you were a good paying customer. This happened to me once during a move. It worked for me....I suppose its worth a try for you. Best wishes!
Re: Re: Re: Best Method To Dispute Collection? I believe comcast has been shutdown ,You will have no problems disputing this item, no one can verify this item so it will be removed 100%
Re: Re: Re: Best Method To Dispute Collection? Comcast is very much alive. Whether they verify is another matter. http://www.comcast.com/
