I had my Platinum Mastercard converted to the Stockback product, and guess what, they pulled a hard inquiry from TU. They claimed a product change permittied a hard inquiry pulled. I'm on the phone with them right now and they said they can't remove the inquiry. I bitched them out about how I've changed accounts before and they've never done such a thing. That is such bull! I closed my account with them, I really don't need chase anyways, after I've read all the crap they've pulled with people. GRRR, I'm soooooooooo mad!
I tried to combine 2 cards with them...DENIED...SOME DEAL ABOUT VISA~~M/C CAN'T COMBINE...so I closed the M/C. WIFE AND I HAVE 0.00% ON OUR CARDS WE STILL HAVE TILL 08/2003...NO OTHER WORRIES...
DISPUTE THE INQUIRY..."I ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT, I DIDN'T APPLY FOR A SECOND ACCOUNT...PLEASE REMOVE" They MAY send the "INQUIRY LETTER" ~~~INQUIRES ARE A FACT~~~THEY HAPPENED, WE DON'T HAVE TO REMOVE THEM!!!
I wouldn't have been so mad if they would have told me before hand they would do it, then I would have never considered doing it. The idea that they are sneaky about it is what pissed me off. The lady on the phone said, well it shouldn't show up as a hard. Well hun, it sure did! I already put my dispute into TU, thanks for the advice on that one George. I've found out after about 20 disputes for inquiries, every day, they come off. It prolly costs them less to take the inquiry off than printing and mailing me a letter. I like it anyways, costing TU money. I'm just glad I closed the account. Citi will become my primary account now.
They did the exact same thing with me, except it was their fault. I applied for the Stockback card; they sent me the i-Card. I immediately called them about the error, and they pulled another hard on TU prior to correcting the error, even though they'd just pulled a hard a couple of weeks before when I first applied. It's only one hard though, so I'm inclined to let that go. What is really annoying is it takes them forever to send out the card. It took them three weeks to send me the i-card, which arrived about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and I've been waiting ever since for the Stockback card. :/ Since the subject is moaning about Chase, the mutual fund they let you invest in for the Stockback card is a piece of garbage. It's an S&P 500 Index fund, with an expense ratio of .63%, more than twice as high as the industry average. Pretty awful. I'll be taking my rewards in cash.
They pulled a hard when I asked for a credit line increase with a bt and a rate reduction. I am not that pissed off but I wish they would have told me before they did that. I would have thought twice, too late now. I am not that upset though. I have 6.9% fixed 0% with no fees for 12 mos and a cl of $5000. Right now Chase is the best card I have, I have Amex, BofA, Discover, etc.
