Beware of Insurance Inquiries!

I received 4 insurance quotes last week and the companies do credit checks for underwriting. I asked the agent if it would affect my score and that agent said that it would not, WRONG! I checked my report and TU had 4 new inquiries, so I called TU and disputed the inquiries. When I pulled my report from WK with the 4 new inquiries my score was 53 and now without them my score went up to 56. So, be very careful when you go shopping for new insurance for your home or car and they pull your credit, because it will lower your score.

What you can do is tell the company, that you are only willing to do it if they agree to delete the inquiry in writing before you give out your social or you can dispute with TU afterwards. You may have to call back several times until you get CSR willing to put inquiries in dispute (CSRs kept saying they don't allow inquiry disputes), but once they are in dispute they will be removed in a few days.

    Peace...

They don't need the SS# to do a hard pull.

    WATCH OUT!

THE INSURANCE COMPANY CAN NOT "SEE" HOW YOU DRIVE BY A CREDIT REPORT!!!

THAT IS WHAT THE DMV REPORT IS FOR!!!!!!

Ok, I did not know they could pull your report w/o inquiry. Anyway, I got the inquiries removed and my score went back up. Now, once I pay my cc balances down, hopefully my scores will be over 750+ with less than 15% of avail. credit used.

    Peace...
