Ok, so I have a bill for my kids dentists. I also have insurance and the dentist seems to bill me for several hundred more than I am responsible for. So they sent it to a CA that according to the BBB, has a really bad record.

So I called them a few days ago and spoke to their "credit coordinator" whatever the hell that is. So shall we talk about how rude and nauseating this guy was? Anyway, I called cause after I disputed this debt with the CRB this CA decided to add another negative TL for the same OC.

They changed the acct# just a tiny bit and the amt due by $40.00. Everything else, including the orig bal, OC and date open is the same. The CRB deleted the second TL the same day I brought it to their attention.

So I called the CA and asked why they did this? They called me a liar. Gee, no surprise there. They denied doing what I accused them of, but I have many CR from the past 3 months and this was not there in any of them. I also have a letter from the CA acknowledging that I have disputed it.

Anyway, they hang up on me and today same thing. More hang up's. Then I called again and a man who claimed to be the "Gen Mgr" answered. Wanted to know what I wanted. I wanted to know why his company reported a bogus account knowing it was bogus. Man, I thought he was gonna come through the phone line to get me he was so mad. LOL.

I have no proof he says. Oh yes, I do. I have the CR. So he hangs up. Little while later he calls DH and without identifying himself asks for fax #. Then the "Gen Mgr" started to tell my husband that he could pay the debt or he's gonna turn it over to atty.

He claims to have already sent the debt off to be prosecuted. This won't happen. I'v already checked and this debt will be rejected by the D.A.

He told my H he had all his employment info, his employer info and would be garnishing his wages. Implying that wage garnisment would start immediately. DH told CA I was simply wanting to know why they inserted a bogus acct and Gen Mgr of CA said to DH "well I pulled up your CR and it's shit anyway." Having us on there is the least of your problems.

Then DH asked him why he wanted fax# and Gen Mgr said "oh, I don't need it now. The marshalls will be serving you." Then he told DH that he had a $71 bounced ck that he will make turn into over $1100 when his attorneys take care of it. This will be the least of your worries. So what do u all think? What should my next step be?

    Thanks for reading.

Is the dentist in your insurance company's network, and under contract? Can you pay what is owed in one payment?

Call the dentist and ask him where he found these low-lifes. Let him know the CA is violating laws left and right, itemize their behavior so far, and let him know he may be liable for their actions. Suggest he pull the account back, and settle directly with him.

Here's the funny and maddening part of it all. I have tried to discuss this with Canada Life for over a year now. They refuse to discuss any of these bills even though they are my kids and I am on the policy. The reason they cite is the HIPPA law. Seriously. They claim without the written permission of my husband, since it's a group policy through his employer, they cannot and will not discuss the bills with me. I feel like I'v stepped back into the 18th century with them. It is a company wide thing too. Not limited to one idiot CSR but the whole Idiot company. Yesterday I filed a complaint with the Dept of Insurance and spoke to them again today. The CSR there told me to write them a letter and what to say in the letter. So I will do that later today.

Sounds like they have turned HIPPA on its head.

I have the opposite problem. I have a group policy thru my employer, and a hospital won't discuss my wife's bill with me. At least they didn't tell you they would only discuss your kid's bill with your kid.
