I think I will have no choice but to do bankruptcy, which I have tried to avoid for years. I have lots of charge off's from credit cards that I rang up in collage. I didn't know how to handle them at all. Many I owe over $4000. I have a judgment for one of the credit cards and it seems hopeless. I have tried credit clean up but only a few fall off. I have sent letters to the creditors for proof and some had it. I have had bad credit for years and am tired of it. I know that some of the credit card companies will come after me for garnishments or judgements sooner or later because they are such high amounts.

I have heard that the rules are going to change. Have they? If not, then when and what does it mean. As soon as I can get the money together I am going to file. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thank you.

Dont panic yet. I was told once the bill becomes law,
you have 180 days. A bk. lawyer told me this.

Also read this board. There is a way out if you want to work at it.

    I have a judgement for $4024

About 40k in collections and charge offs.

I have tried credit clean up for about two years. You get it removed and they just turn and sell it to another collection company which reports it to your credit file.

I have gotten secure loans and jt to try to rebuild, but my score is still in the low 500.

About 1/3rd of the debts will fall off in 2003, 1/3rd in 2004/2005 and the rest to 2007. In two years I am like gold after a BK. I figure be done with it and do a bk. After two years of nothing but struggle for nothing I am tired. I have tried many things on this board, but I am still open if I have missed anything. Thanks.

There has been no change in bk legislation . The bill is mired in a House and Senate Conference Committee and many politicans are backing away from the bill citing fears of undermining consumer confidence. If they ever cobble anything together, it must pass both the House and Senate. It is scheduled to take affect 180 days after the President signs it into law. www.clla.org gives a pretty fair running commentary every few days about the bills progress.
