Going over each credit bureau report is all still new to me, as I haven't been looking at EFX and EXP before I started hanging out on these forums. Boy did I find some major errors with EFX. Experian says: Bankruptcy chapter 7-discharged (Which is correct) Equifax says: CH-13 Filed The Court Number on the Equifax CR is different from the Experian. The Amount says Not on record about the only thing that is consistant is date filed: Date Filed March, 1995 I did have a chapter 7-discharged, however the info is so screwed up on my Equifax, I hope to come out of this with the whole thing wiped off. Any opinions on how I word my Dispute with Equifax?
Questy: I had a BK immediately removed when court number was wrong. I simply disputed as "I never had a BK with court #XXXXX." Similarly, you can dispute as I never had a BK13...with asset amount #...etc...
I have tried not mine, no bk with 0 assets, no bk with that plaintiff,no valid court, all keep coming back verified, they use pacer system here in texas to verify....any other suggestions????
I am still myself wondering what is the "correct" way of disputing this. When you go to EFX to do a dispute online you are limited by what you can do. On a BK, such as this one, you have these three choices, and no boxes for comments: _ This item does not belong to me. _ Bankruptcy dismissed. _ Bankruptcy discharged. There is a court case # attached to the lisiting, I guess I could check myself to see if my name is attached to it??? I guess I'm a bit paranoid about using the choice "This item does not belong to me" I'd feel better if there was an option that said "_This information is outdated or inaccurate" I feel that would better state my dispute. One other question to add to this for other opinions, I've seen arguments on both sides. Can you use one CR as a way to dispute another? In other words, two different agencies have very different information about the same event, they both can't be right? I read somewhere that is a legitimate complaint.
No, CRAs are not interested in data from other CRAs. Yet. You don't have to do it online and limit your options. Your best bet is to write it out as clearly as possible - I do not have a BK on this date, in this court, in this amount. You are required to report accurate and complete data. This is not accurate. Please remove. If you want to see what they see, you can get your own Pacer account and login to your state's system to see your BKs.
That's what really gripes me in all of this. Three different CRA's, same person, so why is my EFX CR so different than the other two!!! Sounds like good fodder for a letter to my congressman after I compose the dispute letter. I'm going to see if I can find that article or whatever it was that I read where it mentioned using one CR to dispute another.
Saying "I never had a Bk with assets of XXX" is truthful if they are inaccurate. If you haven't tried this approach, it's worth a shot..well, I'll just say it worked for me and several others. ON EX, I did this using "other" and wrote the statement. It was removed within days. I would do these by mail CRRR so I can say what I need to say in the proper words.
Saying "I never had a Bk with assets of XXX" is truthful if the numbers (or anything for that matter) are inaccurate. If you haven't tried this approach, it's worth a shot..well, I'll just say it worked for me and several others. ON EX, I did this online using "other" and wrote the statement. It was removed within days. I would do these by mail CRRR if I couldn't do it properly online with other CRA's so the proper dispute could be worded. Do not use "This item does not belong to me." There's a difference in the dispute wording. Is it a guaranteed removal? No..of course not..but by law it has to be 100% accurate so it should be.
