I have disputed a discharged Experian BK credit card acount twice. Each time got verified. EX only allows 2 disputes then refuses to accept disputes. This account shows a 90 day late which is not true. I filed Bk so fast in '97 that I was technically never late just discharged. I would like to write EX a threatening letter saying that as the account was never late I want the account deleted. Have any of you had this problem and what did you do? I am pissed at EX for being so hard headed about disputes.

Why do so many people beat up on the CRAs when an item keeps coming back verified? Although there are many instances where we can safely say a CRA DOES NOT really investigate, CRAs DO investigate more often than not.

If an item continues to get verified, the next logical step is to contact the creditor and ask them if the CRA has in fact contacted them and to request a statement of account to see where they claim you were late.

I'm not defending CRAs by any stretch - I've been through many battles of my own with them. But so many people beat their head against a wall when the CRA verifies and they don't know where to go next - it's easy - go after the creditor.

(We've discussed this before, you might try doing a search.)

As with other things that we debate after bk hits our reports, it's one of those things that some people have luck disputing and others don't. I, for one, was ticked to see some of my creditors adding these after the date I filed and accumulating up until my discharge. Like you, I was pretty current up until the time I had to file. I've had no luck getting any of these changed by disputing so far, but I haven't tried asking the creditor to remove this info. (Fat Chance I believe!) LOL

Now it's been a year since I filed and these accounts are reading as unrated and my scores are in the low to mid 600's. It does still bother me because a couple of things I was turned down for were partly because of "too many delinquencies". If creditors would actually look at my report, they'd see there were no lates at all until my case was filed. (which i totally understand is bad enough by itself!)

I've come to terms with the fact that some creditors report the bk differently than others (I think my Cap one was the ONLY one who didn't do this!) and I'll keep disputing here and there, but my scores are decent enough now and will continue to get better as the few accounts that I've reestablished will age.

Just give it some time and redispute or contact the creditor and tell them you believe it's inaccurate. If you find the sure fire way to get them off, we'd all like to be filled in!

    good luck!

Thanks for the info. I haven't been here too long so if I had it to do over again, I would have disputed once as not mine. Then waited a few more months and disputed the 90 day business. Unless someone else has any ideas, I am stuck, due to the limit of 2 disputes with EX on an item. Of course the account will drop off anyway in 2 years. Live and learn.
