I just received my PACER login & password through the mail. I tried to pull my 8 year old dismissed ch 13 by case number, by SSN and by name--all three scenarios returned no hits for me. Any ideas how Equifax keeps "verifying"? (I should say, half the time they are not even ostensibly verifying my disputes, they are outright ignoring them, including ignoring my recent procedural request). Any advice?

How do credit reporting agencies typically verify BK's.
Can't they just call the courthouse?
What is PACER by the way and how can I check to see if I am on PACER?

PACER is supposed to be the "official" government database for public records, which is why I'm surprised my record is not in there.

    Here is the website:

    http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/

As far as accessing the system, it's your typical government entity, so don't expect the process to be locical or expeditious. Go to "register" & fill out the info, and they will send you a login ID and password via snail mail in about two weeks. You can then log in and search for public records.

And yes, I suppose CRAs could always verify BKs by calling the courthouse (at least to get name, ssn & case #), but I don't know if that's what they do. I'm not sure that anyone knows how they verify it. It's a mystery.
