Someone advised me to call the credit bureaus to try to have my BK removed. I almost laughed, thinking that was such a long shot and unlikely. She said they will absolutely do it sometimes. Is this true? If so, how does one go about talking to them about it? ANY TALKING POINTS YOU CAN OFFER ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! _____________ CAS2 6 months past BK (Ch7) Equifax 603
Yes it is possible but not likely, intentionally that is AND if your name, SSN and address that are on the court docket are the same as on your CR. It must be verified, plain and simple by the CRA. Usually these BK's get deleted in error on the part of the CRA. But I have heard of people disputing the BK as a simple "not mine" and get it deleted. I have also heard of folks legally changing their names and location (ie move) and then dispute it as well, and get it deleted. Where the CRA almost always gets the verification is with your SSN. If you change that LEGALLY, it is usually linked to the old one but you have to have a valid reason for changing it in the 1st place. I do beleive though, that the CRA must verify 2 out of 3 items, those being 1-name 2-SSN and 3-Address. Judgments usually get deleted in this manor easier because more often than none, a judgment DOES NOT contain an SSN. But as for the BK, it's a bit harder. That's about all I know about this area! If you get it deleted, let me know 'cause I want to try it! Good luck!
I have had my BK removed from TU and EQ. I had all previous addresses removed, then disputed with all 3 CRA's. Naturally, EX verified.
I just had a BK 7 discharged Octeber 15, and on November 1st I pulled my reports and started the dispute process. So far, I have only heard directly back from EQ. Of 6 items that I listed as "not mine" 3 came back verfied. Here's the kicker...... 2 of the items were both BK 7 filings. I filed in Dec. 02 and that was converted to a CH 13 and dismissed. I then refiled in Aug. 03 and that was the one for which I received the discharge. I disputed both as "not mine" and the Dec. 02 filing came back verified, but they did not verify my Aug 03 filing(which is the one that received the discharge) and it was removed from my report. I got lucky, I believe. I will continue to dispute until all the negatives are removed. BTW, does anyone know if the BK 7 that was removed can be reinserted? Example....let's say I dispute the BK 7 from Dec. 02 again, and in the process of researching it, they discover the Aug 03 filing. Can they put that back on to my report even though they did not verify it the first time?
