Hello, I am having so much sucess that my mother wants me to help her with her credit reports. She has a BK from 1997 on it(we live in pa).

Will it fall off next year?

If i want to dispute it do i go for each seperate entry or the entire BK?

Please give me some guidelines for this.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Robyn

Bankruptcies, like other public records will stay on your credit report for 10 years...not 7 years, as is the case with derogatory credit information.

    Robin,

It depends on whether she filed Chapter 13 or Chapter 7.

Chapter 13 remains for 7 years
Chapter 7 remains for 10 years.

As for what to attack first, I've always subscribed to the theory of getting the individual "incl in bk" TLs off first and then the BK.

After 7 years, most of the creditors probably either won't be able or won't bother to verify the accounts if you disputed them with the CRAs.

Remember to get rid of all old adresses (if any) first.
