Bkev helped me with AmEx -- Thanks!

Last night in the chat room was a revelation, lol. Although my new AmEx Blue obviously hasn't yet arrived, I was wondering what my line of credit and APR would be. Bkev suggested I call and find out. Momof3 provided the phone number. Reaching for the phone, I trembled ever so slightly as the roar of a passenger plane sailed overhead. Meanwhile in Texas, a child was born. Birds continued to fly south for winter. Alas, I digress. Sorry.

Anyway, I called AmEx, and I got good news and so-so news. The good news: 0% APR for the first 6 months and then 9.99% fixed thereafter! Whoa! The so-so news: a $3,000 line of credit. So, I said to the woman, "Well, I'm really happy about the APR, but my line of credit is pretty low. My Citibank card has a $4,500 line." She asked what I'd like to request, and I said, "Well, nothing outrageous but how about let's climb a step above the Citibank card -- how about $6,000?" She transferred me to another rep, this one a young man in "New Accounts." He told me that he was pretty certain that they would go ahead and match my largest line of credit (the $4,500) which he said was the usual m.o. with requests like mine, however he added he would go ahead and request the $6,000 anyway with no guarantees. Assuming he was sincere, I may get the $6k LOC; otherwise, at least I got a substantial increase anyway just by asking.

Hopefully this will help some other new AmEx Blue recruit out there.

Finally, another THANKS TO BKEV for his encouragement and instruction. The only thing left now is to obsessively check the mailbox every day until the new card arrives, lol.

I did try that line (believe it). I actually only wanted to increase my limit from $2k to $3k so that I wasn't at 50% on my Delta card. I did a balance transfer (just to help in getting approved, don't know if it really worked or not) for $1k. The rep said that she would fwd it to a credit manager for review (no new report) and call me in a few days. I got the call and th asnwer was a big fat NO! Said because the balance on my Citibank AA card was too high. Of course it wasn't the current balance but whatever....I'll wait and try again. No big deal.

I tried this in the past and was told there was nothing they could do. After I've had the account a while they would evaluate it then.
