Sears is not necessarily forever..DH had one in 78 and charged of in 80 or 81. Got a new one in 2001. Limit sux, tho!!
Providian blacklisting may actually be a blessing! So many people have complained about them, that it is a good thing not to have their cards.
I just want a card that I can prove myself with. Considering my luck so far, I seriously considering saving up for a secured (already have CapOne). Starting not to believe in credit second chances. Trina
So, since my mom was able to put me on her walmart chase, that means I'm not blacklisted for the student loan? (SLMA listed Chase as the bank on my CR, paid off now even tho SLMA listing remains). COOL! I just applied for Classic MC will see how it goes. Trina
I'd like to bump up this past thread to see if anyone has info on blacklists at the following if you have screwed them over before: 1.> Bank of America (have seen conflicting posts on this) 2.> Chase 3.> Discover 4.> MBNA
Thanks for bumping this thread, it is worth a revisit and needs some updates 1.> Bank of America - No 2.> Chase - Yes (verified 08/03) 3.> Discover - Definately Yes (verified 05/03) 4.> MBNA - Don't know. And of course, Citi's blacklist is very much alive and well.
Providian: I never burnt them for one cent, never late, etc. When I did my BK Ch7 two years ago, I did not list them, didn't have a balance. They cancelled me flat out. Fine. A month ago, w/scores in the mid 600s, I tried Providian. They turned me down w/out pulling any CR. Seems like they have a list. Again, I never had a problem w/them. Simply went BK while holding a zero balance on their card.
Re: Re: Blacklisted! BradJ, How long had it been since the bad accounts for the results posted below?
Re: Re: Blacklisted! I think we should blacklist WFNNB. I tried for 2 different retail cards with them and both came back with the only reason for denial as Bankruptcy.
Re: Re: Blacklisted! I have a question. If let's say Sears blacklists you for an account you had that was charged off in 1995. Now it's 2003 and ALL your derogs from the 1995 era have fallen off, you have FICO in the high 600's - low 700's, have low utilization, and only a few cards. When you apply to Sears, and they refuse you, what type of reasoning can they use in their denial? Aren't they by LAW required to clearly indicate the reason for denial? Do they state "Previous delinquant account" or something like that? Just wondering. ChrisB
Re: Re: Blacklisted! BradJ/Anyone, Specifically I would like more info on Bank of America and Chase...
Re: Re: Blacklisted! Richguy, For Bank of America, it was an 8 year old C/O For Chase, a student loan 9 years ago, not a credit-card, but was declined for creditcard due to SL going bad. For Discover, one 60-day late 8 years ago.
Re: Re: Blacklisted! Thanks, BradJ! So, BoA approved you with the old CO on file or did you have to request reconsideration/manual override? I have an 8-year old BoA CO as well (incl in BK)...
Re: Re: Blacklisted! Nope. No reconsideration necessary. Although, the decision was not an instant one, it took 4-days and when I checked on the status, it came back approved.
