I just got denied for a Spiegel Card. My FICO is 650, but I still have a judgement that says unpaid and tehse crazy duplicate Gulf State accounts with balances, that are paid of. Also I have that stupid deliquent electric bill. I'm can't get approved for anything online.

CAs are really gumming me up. I owe about $6,000 between a Providian Visa and MC. I have never been late with payments over 2 years and I also owe $1200 for student loans in excellent condition. Not to mention that I make between 50k-56k. WTF??
No car payment. I have surplus everymonth. What gives. I guess I'll go back to my cash diet. I was trying to get a store card to help raise the score. Oh welll I guess I will know in a few weeks if I get it after further review.

FICO needs to show income. Some people make shite and have high scores and are buried in debt. I owe a measily $7,200 on a nice salary.

Try A Dillard's card. It is also accepted at other dept. stores. (I work in a prison not in prison, so don't let my IP through you off!)

    BlueVegas,
Why don't you try to apply for Target card? I heard they are pretty easy to approve from this board.

Do you mind sharing what you report looks like (lates, chargeoffs, etc.) I have a lotta lates, two collections for <200 total, and my score is about the same as yours. Didn't want to waste the hard inquiry, but hearing your story is encouraging me to apply, since I shop at target so much. Thanks.

Question about Speigel (FCNB). I applied pre-Junum, back in Jan. I was denied (not for Spiegel but for Newport News).

They pulled Equifax and now my Equifax is negative-free. Should I try to apply for the Newport News again, or just forget it. I don't want to waste the inquiry. My 2nd reason code was too many inquires in the last 12 months.

P.S. I'm working on getting rid of those inquires now.

Sam> You got a Target with a 565? What was your credit like? Rebuilding or building? I had a 558 3 months ago, and it should be a lot higher by now. It shows my 6 month old Cap1 card with perfect history, and a new car loan. But, I have a 2 year old repo and a few other baddies over 2 years old....

    Try Macy's

I know there are Macy's stores in Vegas, and the Macy's card is pretty easy to get. For a lot of people, it's their first credit card. (My wife got hers with a Visa debit card and a driver's license.)

I think I will just wait till the PAST DUE electric bill gets removed. I really do not need anything right now. I have a nice surplus of around $1400 every month to pay extra on bills or just spend. My main reason was to open it to help my FICO score in the long run. I'll just finish paying off theses Providian cards since they will be on there 2 year and 1 1/2 year mark in May.

I think I have been black listed. I'm not drowning in debt and can't get a new card for nothing. Of course I have those Cross Country and other crap card offers coming in weekly, but I'm not for taking a step back. I think once all of my errors get fixed, and my judgement says PAID, that everything will be ok. The judgement was from 10/98. Now it is PAIDNFULL. Capital One said the would be sending out a letter to CAs and me stating that it was PAID. We will see.

I think at this point is to forget the department store or retail credit cards. Work on getting your derogs and such off. This will give your recent inquires a chance to mature and give you a better chance to qualify for any credit in the future.

I myself will go on the wagon for at least three months. I am in the infant stages of repair my credit (current FICI 565), really got ticked off when Citgo denied me.

The only credit that I am applying for are higher cl on my current credit cards. This part is to raise my current balance to credit limit ratio.

    Best regards,
    Sam

I think 1 year of no lates, judgements, BKs, etc. should equal a 700 FICO. Two years perfect history should equal 850 FICO. As long as millionaires run this country and billionaire lobby groups bribe politicians to set policies beneficial to their interests, low to middle income people will be oppressed by "the man".

    income

Sorry I may get blasted here, but I don't think your income should have anything to do with the FICO . Yes you mentioned some have low income but are buried in debt, I also know of many who have rather high incomes and still can't handle their debts.

My household income is not that high, actually a poster referred to my income as poverty level a while back LOL, anyway I am sorry but you can still have a modest income and can be very responsible for your credit and I think if income were to be included this would be a complete disadvantage to the middle class hard working folks. Income has no place in scoring.

    Re: income

Income should have alot to do with it, because I have about $1400 left over after all my billls and why wouldn't I be able to pay for a minimum on a cheezy credit card. Wow some people are in awe about getting $300-400 Target, and other cards. Well I'm not. I could pay that off every month. I can make bigger payments than somone who is struggling with cash. That's why income should count.
