Went shopping at Bloomingdales over the weekend. I've had their card since 1997 and I never used it much. My limit was $200. Then about a year ago I got it raised to $400. I called after that to get it higher but they weren't willing to do so since I had a zero balance. They said I needed to show some history before they would raise it again. Since they carry my favorite make up now (M*A*C), I've been making all of my make-up purchases there. I called today and they gave me (w/o inquiry) another $200. It appears as though they are only willing to give $200 increases before they need to pull a hard inquiry. I thought maybe since they are a part of FDS (like Macy's) that they would be more generious with increases. That is not the case.

They've kept me at the same limit of 1000 for over ten years now. I haven't used them much either.

    MP$40 / Luxury4me - can you get a Bloomingdales
    card with a past BK?

I have been itching to go to Palo Alto - and they are coming into the City?

    Any ideas?

    I have no clue! :-(

Do you have a Macy's card? If you got a Macy's card w/ a past BK, then you might get bloomies since their approval standards are about the same.

    Dogman,

I got a Bloomies card when my BK was 6 years old. The limit was $400.00. Becareful thought, as the other posters have stated, if you don't use, you basically lose it. I have had them since '97 and stopped using them in 2000. The limit got to $1,000.00 but ithe card is probably non-usable now.

The first year I used it frequently and paid it off every month. I received a pre-approved for a Bloomies Visa card within twelve months. I accepted back then but have since cancelled it due to awful customer service. Try it, you will hopefully have better luck than me.

thx KK I know they take AMEX but it would be a

    Dogman,

You should read my December 2001 thread regarding Bloomingdale's. This is the last credit card I acquired before I began to cut back on my credit card accounts.

I received the account but if I were applying today I would still be concerned that I wuld be wasting an inquiry. You will understand when you read the thread. Do a search on posts by - Jim - for the last 6 months to locate my comments. My daughter or I use the card every month as we have a Bloomies located a mile from our home.

    Best regards,

    Jim

    P.S. - Congrats MP$40 !!!

You people are fortunate to live near a Bloomingdale's. I've never seen one myself. Is it anything like K-mart?

Bloomies certainly has some nice stuff, particularly in the NYC one, but it is kind of trendy. At times when I feel like indulging I much prefer Bergdorfs, Saks, or Neiman's. At those places you really feel waited on. You pay for it, but you get what you pay for.

I wonder if the $600 Coach computer case I gave for a present is now half price - because I WANT ONE to go with my wallet of course AARRFFFF!

luxury4me - I have the feeling you know how to do it correctly when you indulge....

MP$40 is a mastress at that game as well...

of course, for a Dogman, I know a good watch from a bad watch - at 100 YDS on a foggy day, and (since I have it on as I type) ROLEX is my specialty.
The ROLEX was my gift to myself - and it only comes off when I sleep. Of course I got it during the heyday of the dot.coms LOL!

    aarrfff doggin it dogman

You are the best! My old engineering buddies at my old job bought be back a Rolex from Taiwan once. I was cracking up when I read the words "FOLEX". I still look at that watch and laugh to THIS DAY! I'll wait for a real one...

Hell M we used to get in TJ after a few pops whenever we went to San Diego...
hell even the fake gold would flake off before you could get the two miles back to the border.....

Whats funny is having the real one and having a FAKE sit at a conference table aCROSS...it happened-
nothing was said - other than - you know dotcom - casually - nice watch Dogman - thx - and the paw across the table withers into the lab of the dude....

and everything anybody touched that had XXX.com
on it instantly made $100 million.

Well, that just made me MAD that Bloomie's have them on sale when NOBODY else does it.

I almost have enough MR points to get that $250 certificate for Coach(because I want that $300.00 duffel).

Big thangs Sistergirl big thangs! Keep racking up those points! You know my jaw was on the ground when I saw the sign that said "Designer Handbags 25-40% off! I thought I was seeing things. That stuff just doesn't go on sale...PERIOD! That's why I broke down and bought it. I love getting nice stuff at a discount cause to have to pay full price ruins it a little.

Hey dog....so are you going to bite the bullet and apply for Bloomies??? Did you read Jim's comments?

I pulled his quote from that other thread:

Well, what do you think? Seems as though you might be able to get Bloomies and/or Macy's.

Rolexes are beautiful and in some ways actually a good deal. I have had the same stainless rolex since my sophomore year of college all the way through graduate school and into the "real world." I always enjoy wearing it and it always feels appropriate and stylish, unlike certain clothing purchases I made. I haven't bothered with other watches because unless it is going to be nicer than my rolex (such as the Presidential model) why bother?
