Hey Austin - congrats. You couldn't wait until October for the A4 Cabriolet? That may be my A6 replacement in '03 ... mj
Austinguy, You must have read my MIND!! I just posted about finding a good dealership for buying a BMW. I want one sooooooooooo bad. They are some jazzy cars. You and your car are going to be looking and feeling good. $3,500 down is alot for me...........I am wanting a used low mileage BMW..Would I still have to pay that much down for it. And does John Roberts BMW have a website????? VVVVVVVRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Congrats! I'm in SC and have a BMW too! Maybe I could get yours and drive it while mine is being serviced...lol I must say.... I love my car.. I leased mine in 98. It's due to go back this year. I'm not sure what I will go with next. Now that I have a four month old.... my BMW doesn't have enough room in the back for the Larger (convert.) car seat. I think I'm going to go for a Lexus GS 400 (it has a big back seat) this time. Ok... enough mouthjacking... Again... Congrats... PS.. one thing I love about my car is it will adapt to any height... which is BIG plus for me. I'm 5'0 and sometimes it's hard to find a car that is friendly.
I had a loan get paid off at 11 months, score took a less than 10 point hit. Fico seems to like aged car loans, (12 months + I am guessing) Congrats on nice car!
AustinGuy, Don't forget to apply for the BMW Platinum Card. It takes forever (give or take a few days) for it to arrive in the mail. However, it's certainly worth the wait...not to mention that it automatically alerts the beautiful lady at the counter to gently wrap your silk ties in layers of tissue paper before boxing them up. Hi mj - I saw a road test on MOTORWEEK comparing the A4 CAB v. BMW 330ci convertible. They said BMW is the ultimate for off the line; and then they said the AUDI was more luxiourious and "SUPREMELY" comfortable - FOR 2 people. They are priced within $2K of each other, They are BOTH SUPERB - BUT - the AUDI wins on style and interior and more "comfortable" ride. Of course, if I had bought the BMW, I would be singing the other tune LOL! They are both among the TOP 10 CARS in the world - Car and Driver. MJ - a sunroof is imminently more practical in San Francisco. I go from fog lights and heated seats at my place at the top of the hill - to - heat in the Mission. I do not need to stop my car for the top bit.... BUT - the A4 Cab is beautiful. MJ - did you see that new AUDI S8? 450 HP to burn BMW and Benz? $80K.... 0-60 in 4.5 sec..... aarfff - dogman
Dog ... an A8 wanted to play race with me on Route 128 (Boston) ... I knew better and bowed. My 2.7T has plenty of kahunas... but I know my place You're dead-on about Audi style. They "get it" about style and comfort. I looked closely at a BMW convert (315i ?) and the interiors just weren't comparable. I had a convert rental (a Sebring, but hey, it worked) in SFO last trip ... very cool to drive across the Golden Gate with the fog rolling in and top down. Of course we were headed to Napa, so the topless factor was very nice! You'd be surprised how many converts. are here in Boston! Keep enjoying the Audi. Have you checked in w/www.AudiWorld.com yet? -mj
MJ - I tell you the Audis out here run in "packs." You 'll get one, another will get behind, etc. One evening about 3 weeks ago, 4 A4s and 2 A6s were all in a row, slowly following the cable car tracks. It was hilarious...People must have thought we were doin a commercial - and it was just 6 Audi drivers up to their neck in payments LOL! It doesn't matter WHAT YEAR it is - the Audi driver seems to be somewhat upscale and somewhat aggressive LOL!!! OH YES - checked out Audi world AND JOINED Audiclubna.org! I am into the planned rallies, and events - remember - we have Sears Point about 30 miles from here. mj - my parents are from Boston; Weston and Wellesley - grandparents WERE Hyannis - and YES - I DID Shake JFK's hand when he was politicking in Hyannis - B4 his election. You Bostonians have style dude - as I laugh thinking about the rental Sebring convertible hehe. aarrfff dogman
AustinGuy - isn't it amazing how a BMW thread turned into an AUDI white sheet? LOL....you're getting a BEAUTIFUL car... does it have heated seats? aarrf - dogman
MJ - one more quick Audi story... a couple of nights ago - maybe 7 pm, I am stopped at a light near Union Square. A group of very caucasion looking tourists was crossing in front of me at the light - they were all looking dead on at the A4 - or my howlingly handsome dog face - then I heard "AUDI" from one of the guys - approvingly - in a strong GERMAN accent LOL! I wonder how much cheaper they are in the homeland....probably still expensive. aarrff - dogman
Re: MJ - one more quick Audi story... Since this is my one moment in the spotlight, I will grab the damn thing and run with it. In no particular order: I LOVE my A4; it's a great car for the money. The problem with the new Cabriolet coming out, frankly, is that they are only offering it in an automatic until next spring. I'm a patient man, just not that patient! I will freely admit that the instrumentation on the BMW is kinda sucky compared to the Audi. But when I have my shades on going down the road with the top down, do you think I CARE what the dash looks like? As for the options, I got everything but the "winter package". I live in Texas and I've got a big butt so heat isn't a problem around here. I will say that, hands down, the coolest thing about the car is the top. It's fully automatic and it ROCKS when it goes up and down. Push a button and it does the rest. Unfortunately, murdering someone is not an option with the car either because there's no way you could fit more then a pack of gum in the trunk let alone a body! All in all, I'm psyched. The dealer called me today and said that it's on a truck right now and will be here Friday. Needless to say, don't be sending me any messages that day, I won't be around!
Re: MJ - one more quick Audi story... I got the winter package because it can get as lo0w as 50 in san fran .... sounds great AustinGuy - fast too! what color did you get? dogman
Re: MJ - one more quick Audi story... We got down to 35 a few times in WHITTIER... 50 is SWEATER TIME!!!
Re: MJ - one more quick Audi story... It's silver with gray interior. It gets so damn hot down here that dark colors are a bad idea.
dogman, I saw one at a US Treasury auction that had 4k miles that went for 42k. That's the main reason that I want perfect credit to NOT let deals like that pass by. I have a SC 400 that I like much better than the SC 430. I have no back seat, but the 430 shouldn't have even tried to put the poor excuse for a backseat in it. Charlie
charlie - YOUR CURRENT SC 400 is FANTASTIC - wonderful... I like them much better than then new 430. they should have just made it a roadster..... aarrff - dogman
congrats on the fine ride! enjoy! I could never afford a car like that. I'll have to settle for my 300M. It does have " bun warmers " though, (heated seats) and enough room in the trunk for 6 bodies! cor
