    So, the real question is:

Can I convert my Platinum card to the Signature or, will I have to apply for a new account?

My only response about the annual fee is...

It's the same fee for the Alaska Airlines Platinum card too! Both are $75 annually.

It's the annual fee for the mileage program. From what I've heard, BofA doesn't keep the fee, but it goes to Alaska Airlines programs.

I think just about every Visa Signature card out there has an annual fee program of SOME kind.

Bank One United Visa Signature: $60
US Bank WorldPerks Visa Signature: $99
Chase World MasterCard: $85 (not signature but same type of program)
First USA/Bank One British Airways Visa Signature: $75

The lowest Visa Signature Visa out there that I could find was the Marriott Rewards from Bank One for only $30 annually (first year free).
