I just got BofA to lower my purchase apr from prime + 12.99 to 11.99 fixed.

I also got my limit increased from 10k to 19,500.

I will have had my account for 2 years in March. This is the first they have budged on the apr and the 2nd time they have been willing to increase the limit.

    theother,

Both of My BofA credit cards have 9.9 fixed APR. I had MC for over two yrs and Visa for over 1 yr.

Next time I will go for an even lower rate, but I thought 17.74 to 11.99 was a pretty big drop. Good enough for now.

Congratulations! You give me hope. They have me stuck at 17.99% fixed.

That's great, BOFA gives great limits and they are doing good in the market, while citibank Amercia Express are not doing so good.

I called BofA after my intro 3.9 rate was over, and they told me my new apr was 17.99. I asked why, and the rep was pretty rude and told me that I "hadnt a prayer of lowering it for AT LEAST another 6 months." I sent an angry letter to Planet FeedBack, and two days later got my rate reduced to prime plus 7.99% (12.99) and they credited me with the difference on the account for December and January. Might be worth a try..

That is so RUDE! For that kind of response, the executive reps should have given you prime (or 0%) for the next year.

The retention lady I spoke with was very nice, but could not help me. She said check back in another two billing cycles.

It was a hard inquiry on TU. Both limit increases I've recevied came after a hard inquiry on TU.

    the other,

I requested to increase credit limit for both of my BofA credit cards accounts without any hard inquiry.

I've had similar experiences with retention - very nice people who will tell you point-blank what they can and can't do for you.

Somehow I was not liked by their computer for the 1st 18 months - no limit increases or rate reductions (but good bal xfer offers). I didn't complain, though, as they were able to look past the BK from '95 and approve the account. Good move on their part - I've been a profitable customer for them!

After 18 months- the rates started dropping every 6 months (as I called them and asked for it). The Limit was also raised to $7500, then $10000, and then through a bal xfer offer to $12,500.

My partner went from $5 to $7500 after 6 months, then a bal xfer offer upped it to $12000.

I really like them... easy to work with, straightforward, and excellent rates.
