BofA just sent us replacement credit cards and they attached a Mini Card too!

    It's beyond cool!

My husband got one with his new B of A check card. He doesn't like it, because he prefers to carry the big ones in his wallet. He's afraid it's too easy for someone to grab.

I haven't gotten mine yet, I assume I will when cards expire. I'll probably use mine! :)

Hehe, the card just LOOKS cool. I wouldn't carry it around. Just like your husband, I think it's too easy to lose it.

Nevertheless, it's always nice when the bank sends you something extra, instead of, for example, a rate jack ;)

Talking about extra, BofA just gave us a line increase last week. Spontaneous. They sent us a letter saying "Because you've been our Preferred Client for such a long time, have an impeccable payment history and your credit status has recently improved, we give you a nice, shiny and brand new cl increase of $2000".

    It's been a good week.......

Congratulations on the increase. Bof A does that occasionally, although I don't think as often as First USA or Citibank.

I have a friend who's been with B of A for a little over a year and they bumped him from $6,500 to $12,000 and he only makes in the mid 40's. Not bad as far as I'm concerned.

God Forbid if you lose your keys with this "mini card" which in some case has your photo attached. While it might be cool...I think it the worst thing Bank of America has done so far next to charging non account holders five dollars to cash a payroll check drawn on their bank and not even provide them with a receipt.

There is NO PHOTO OPTION with the mini card. It is designed just for quick purchases at the grocery store or places where YOU slide your card. If you lose your keys, it is still the same AS IF YOU LOST YOUR WALLET! Just report the card lost right away and you are NOT held responsible for unauthorized purchases (read your card agreement!).

As for charging non-account holders $5 to cash a check, it costs A LOT OF MONEY to stockpile cash to cash all those business payroll checks. BofA has got to be the #1 bank for businesses. If you don't want to open an account at BofA, (or anywhere else) it is still YOUR CHOICE to cash your check at BofA and PAY THE $5. NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO GO TO BOFA TO CASH YOUR CHECK! You can still do business somewhere else. (Have your employer get into the 90's and provide direct deposit for their employees!)

I'd better call and get my photo in it too! I was under the impression that it was just too small to put a recognizable photo in such a small space! I need to call them soon. Thanks!

    No place to sign???

SO YOU HAVE TO SHOW DRIVERS LICENSE???

I would rather use a "REAL" card and NOT show ID...just the signed card...

If you get it with the photo, your signature comes burned in into the plastic in the front.

Yep, got my mini card today (plat check card). My old card was not to expire until 12/04 but they are reissuing to all current check card holders -- increasing the expiration date but keeping card number the same.

There is an insert that has an FAQ and one of the questions is "Why are you sending me this?" and the answer is "to send you a mini card we must reissue your standard card as well, the number is the same gbut diff expiration date."

So, all check card holders will be sent this whether you want it or not! What an expense!

I ASSUMED that since it was real small...you couldn't sign it...

What is the real purpose of the mini cards? Does anyone really go anywhere without their wallets anyway? Or is it primarily for the cool factor like amex blue or quantum used to be? I keep wondering how cool can the mini cards really be if discover was the first bank to offer them?

Can you immagine carring around 7 or 8 "MINI" cards???

It would probably take up MORE space than 7 or 8 "REAL" cards...

True enough, but just think how many more you can store in your double-wide sock drawer, GEORGE!

I have had the mini card for awhile now. I haven't had any real problems with it. It is very convenient for me, because when I am on the go, I don't have to carry my purse around. I have not been asked for my driver's license while using the card. The worst thing that has happened while using the card was a lazy cashier at Barnes and Nobles commenting on how inconvenient the keys were. I find myself using this card more than the others, because it is right there, the first card I see.

I am also now VERY aware of where my keys are, where in the past I had to wake up an hour early to find my keys before leaving the house. :)
