Just wanted to share the news with the people who have helped me so much along the way. I was approved for a CL of $6300 with a fixed 8.9% for BT. I will be transfering a combined total of about $1100, so until I pay that down I'm less than 20% utilization. This is such a milestone for me. I'm finally out of the subprime market and finally have a grown up credit line. Not sure, what this will do to my FICO, but I think even if I took a hit for the inq., I will gain some points for having more credit available. Thanks again, everyone. I wouldn't have had the courage or the knowledge of which card to choose without my CN buddies. Lisa
Congratulations!!! Now, I just have one question. Any baddies or were your reports clean when you applied?
Brad - I have one paid charge off from FCNB that just won't go away. One of my negative factors on my TU FICO is that I have a thin file. Here is my TU file FCNB - DOL 08/98 Paid Collection/Chargeoff Installment Loan (Car) - open 06/00 Pays as agrees/never late Cap 1 MC - open 07/99 Pays as agrees/never late HH MC - open 10/01 Pays as agrees/never late. My CL for the two CCs is $550 and $880. And its been like pulling teeth to get CLIs from them. I can now sock drawer them once and for all. Lisa
Lisa - I'm very happy for you. All those what if's were unnecessary after all. I'd like to know if you spoke with one of their credit analysts or did you wait for the approval to show up online.
Marci: OT, but I keep noticing your BofA interest rate. Have you considered speaking with them to bring it to 7.9 fixed?
Re: Re: BofA Platinum Visa APPROVED! 7.9?? Please tell me the number and person to talk to request that rate??. I have two BofA Platinum (one is at 9.9% and the other one at 15.9%for purchases) Both have 4.25% for bal transfer, I have never missed a payment. My limits are 8k and 18.3k I have called hundred of times to lower the rate on both cards and they keep saying that these are the lowest rate thay can offer!! I have called to the regular cust service tel number and to retention.
Re: Re: Re: BofA Platinum Visa APPROVED! Try 800-274-5060. Confirm that you're speaking with a credit analyst. Let us know how it goes, Geo.
Re: Re: Re: BofA Platinum Visa APPROVED! Yeah, what Geo said. I will try that special number, thanks! I have NEVER revolved a balance on that card and they once told me that I wouldn't get squat from them until I did. :-(
Re: Re: Re: Re: BofA Platinum Visa APPROVED! You may want to tell them (if they bring up the revolving issue again) that you haven't revolved because the rate was significantly higher than your other cards, but at 7.9 you'd be more inclined to do so...
Re: Re: Re: Re: BofA Platinum Visa APPROVED! I never revolve balances on any of my cards. Does this mean Capital One will not raise my limit to $350 from $300? Darn. I would like an increase from my ABA Citibank Card though. APR is 9.9% fixed.
Re: Re: Re: Re: BofA Platinum Visa APPROVED! I have a good friend who's had B of A for about 1.5 years. They seem to be very agressive with their CL's. He only makes high 40's and he has a $12,000 line which I think is very generous.
Thanks Sheepshead. I called on Friday and was told it was still "pending". I just left it at that and figured I'd call back today (Monday) and speak with someone. I checked the online status thingy on Saturday morning and it said I had been approved. You're right, all of those "what ifs" were for nothing. I think that was the subprime low self esteem talking. LOL! I will call the 800# mentioned in this thread and see if I can get the lower fixed rate. Thanks again! Lisa
Re: Re: BofA Platinum Visa APPROVED! Lisa: I understand the sub-prime, self-esteem cloud and didn't mean in any way to minimize your apprehension. I just firmly believe that one needs to control as much of what they CAN control rather than passively wait for life to happen to them. When you call them today please make sure to also discuss your limit. The good folks at BofA will pull up your credit file (not another hard, just a review of what they already have) and may very well increase your CL or will give you future guidelines re: same. I'll be waiting for more good news and am now shaking your hand!
Re: Re: BofA Platinum Visa APPROVED! Anyone have any idea how long BOA requires you have their card before you can ask for a CL?
Re: Re: Re: BofA Platinum Visa APPROVED! YMMV, but...3 months minimum history after initial approval. Of course if you can wait 6 or 9 months or longer and you've built up a good track record with them your chances of a CL increase improve and you appear less desperate.
