    Im a newbie to this so pls bear w/ me.After disputing a few things on my CR,I received a letter from equifax stating "the diputed file is not being reported on you credit file"....Does this mean the account has been removed? I havent ordered a second report yet to see but I remeber reading that once an item was removed the CRA was suposed to send an updated report not just a letter?
    Thanx

    was it on there when you sent the dispute? i would include a copy of EQ credit report, highlight the item and say dispute now and i am not giving you extra time to verify it - you still have 30 days from original dispute.

    The account in question is listed on my credit report, or at least the original one I pulled 3.5weeks ago, The #s match between what is on my report and what equifax is saying is not currently being reported on my credit report.So does this mean theyre not seeing it?

    • § 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i]

      (B) Contents. As part of, or in addition to, the notice under subparagraph (A), a consumer reporting agency shall provide to a consumer in writing before the expiration of the 5-day period referred to in subparagraph (A)

      (i) a statement that the reinvestigation is completed;

      (ii) a consumer report that is based upon the consumer's file as that file is revised as a result of the reinvestigation;

    So ... a report is due ONLY if the dispute results in a revision. (Which is what Jenz was asking).

    Ben working too much overtime lately so my brain is running on empty, basically it goes as follows:

    1)pulled credit report, listed on it is 4190xxxxxxx account listed as charge off 2002
    2) I disputed as not mine since I didnt have an account w. this company
    3)I recieved letter form equifax stating :
    We have reveiwed your concerns and our conclusions are:the disputed account 4190xxxxxx is not currently reporting on the equifax credit file

    What the heck does that mean? I can see the account plain as day, thats how I diputed it in the first place, theyre not saying its validated,removed or being researched ect.......

    Stay with me AJ.

    WHY was the account removed the first time?

    ???

    In other words there are numerous reasons an account may be removed from a CR.

    For ex: an OC may slip and lose it. Thus it's no longer "reports" on the monthly update tapes.

    These types of accounts are not "DELETED" accounts.

    A "DELETED" account is one which is deleted as a result of a dispute.

    THOSE accounts are subject to certain restrictions.

    ???

    So they conveniently "lost" the account in question right after I disputed it?

    lol,

    Now we're getting somewhere. Where in this thread did you previously make it clear that it was disputed? Did I miss it?

    NO - of course not! If an account is deleted as a result of a dispute now that IS a dleted TL. As such it triggers certain requirements prior to it's reinsertion.

    The 5 day notice etc.

    I'll review and help with a strategy.

    Nopie, I STILL can't figure it out AJ.

    The TL is NOT on your CR right now, and it was NOT there when you recently disputed.

    Now the question we're trying to get an answer to is;

    Presuming it USED to be on your CR (albeit not now) was it a deleted account? (as a result of a PRIOR dispute).

    This one TL in question, have you disputed it a TOTAL of once (the recent one) or TWICE. The first one being the reason it was removed????

    Re: Re: brain lapse question

    Butch Perhaps we are not looking at the same thread here, My opening sentence was:" I recently disputed some things (ie) TL's on my CR"...........
    then IN a later thread I wrote:

    1)pulled credit report, listed on it is 4190xxxxxxx account listed as charge off 2002
    2) I disputed as not mine since I didnt have an account w. this company
    3)I recieved letter form equifax stating :
    We have reveiwed your concerns and our conclusions are:the disputed account 4190xxxxxx is not currently reporting on the equifax credit file

    Am I making this more confusing or something....
    4/5... tl in question (4190)was on my equifax report listed as charge off
    4/5... I sent 1 online dispute claiming not mine.
    4/20... recieved letter from equifax stating TL (4190) is not currnetly reporting on the equifax file...ok so its not reporting monthly, what does this have to do w/ disputing it.

    Re: Re: Re: brain lapse question

    Ok AJ. My question had to do with what might have happened in the past, perhaps distant past. But alas.

    SO you have a TL, which you disputed, recently, and the response was, "It's not on your report".

    But on YOUR report it appears.

    I wonder if you've pulled your report in the last couple days to see if maybe it's gone?

    If not I'd call them and tell them they are mistken.

    Be careful what you say about the TL. Your reply:

    "I don't recognize it". And; "It's already been disputed, and you didn't respond".

    Be NICE! Don't get flustered. :)

    If that fails fire off another CMMM with a copy of your report with the problem area circled. Or better yet ask the CSR if you can fax it.

    We'll help you with your letter.

    It appears that y ou received your CR stating that it was not sh owing up on your CR, I will concluded that it has been deleted. But I would request another CR to be sure.

    Just a quick update, I re-pulled my equifax cr, and in fact the disputed items WERE REMOVED, again, I received no updated credit report, simply a single page letter stating item xxxx is not currently reporting on your equifax credit report......still, would have been nice if they simply said diputed items have been removed, would have saved me form having to type this thread to begin with......
