I dont know if this topic has been covered & I apoligize if this might be redundant. I am wondering if there is a strategy(s) for disputing +30/60/90 day late pays with the original creditor with validation requests. Has anyone done this? I was wondering if you draft up a validation letter suited towards challenging them to really validate your late pays, that during the interim they would have to report the account in dispute with the CRA's. What are the possibilities that they would rack up violations for not honering validation of late payments reported??? For those of us who are showing late pays unstead of collection accounts this would be helpful.

    Thanks for your input

In my situation, the majority of my diputes this first round were diputes of accounts with late pays. So far most have been verified with the CRA's with a few being updated.

First, send a letter to the OC disputing the balances and dates of payments. Be very short - just "I hereby dispute the reporting of this account in regards to balances and dates of payments." Send CRR.

Then when the green card comes back - dispute with the CRA's as disputing balance.

See if the OC responds to you, and whether they put the account in dispute.

Chances are they'll update with the CRA's and never answer you OR note the account in dispute.

As far as getting the late pays to drop or be deleted, should you start by disputing the late pays by the oldest date? 1 or 2 at a time? I have a cpl credit cards where they are showing a cpl lates back in the year 2K. Most companies purge records after 2years and are unable to verify so that was my thinking on that. Im hoping to atleast try a cpl things before sending a goodwill letter. I know there has to be a few people on this board who have successfully had late pays deleted....

I am trying to figure out a strategy for my student loans which are all in default and reporting 120 days. I am rehabing them, but still would like to see if I could get some of those late pays off, in an attempt to raise my scores. Any ideas? Any one had luck disputing date with Student loans?

willall: There are several strategies for dealing with late-pay histories on accounts which are up-to-date. These include: 1) the Goodwill letter; 2) the Nutcase series; 3) the DanceRat tactic; 4) the Creditwrench.com Knockout letter; 5) intent to sue notices; and probably more. If I had more time today, I would collect links for all of these for you. However, it will be just as easy for you to use the Search function (at the bottom of this and other pages on this board) and use any of the keywords suggested by the above list.

kbanger: Once your student loans are rehabilitated, the old late-payment history will automatically be purged.

Sounds like we are almost in the same boat. Im also rehabbing a student loan & am trying to formulate a plan of attack. One that Im trying to work is Ombudsman office of Dept of Ed is helping me because Sally Mae did not follow proper precedure before they sent my loan to default status. So I have a letter drafted up that I had sent to Both Sallie Mae and Ombudsman who took my case. & now I think I will submit it to the CRAs with disputing their procedure which I hope will erase the lates or delete the account. Ill keep you posted on that

Even limited access ISPs will let you use the handy search function! :D Give it a try. It will serve you well over the long haul.

Doc thanks for the prescription, I am just impatient. If I could get rid of all my student loan problems my scores would be very good. It is just waiting for that whole year to pass by. I have alot to get done before that year is up. Again thank you
