    Shooting at LAX
Thu Jul 4, 2:59 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A number of people have reportedly been wounded by gunfire today at a terminal at the Los Angeles International Airport.

A Los Angeles police spokesman said someone opened fire and killed another individual near an El Al ticket counter, then shot several other people before the gunman was killed by security personnel.

Los Angeles police said the information they had was preliminary, with few details.

The office of California Governor Gray Davis ( news, bio, voting record) reported the shootings occurred near the ticket counter of El Al, the Israeli airline.

Five ambulances were sent to the LAX international terminal.

A Los Angeles TV station, KCBS, says two people were killed, including the gunman.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) ... "At this time, there's no reason to believe the incident is terrorist-related," said Lt. Horace Frank, an LAPD spokesman. Information is still sketchy and the investigation is still in its earliest stages, he said...
Frank said 911 operators received the first call at approximately 11:30 a.m. (2:30 p.m. EDT), saying a suspect opened fire on an individual near the El Al counter. The suspect in turn was killed by El Al security personnel, but other "innocent bystanders" were shot and some were seriously wounded...

I just heard there was a small plane that crashed into

Yes, 2 in plane dead, several injured on the ground, no fire (which is unusual)

The plane crash was a "mayday" - emergency onboard the plane.

    Thanks for the info Mark.

I live in Southern CA. My ex-wife and I amicably share custody of our daughter. However, this is one weekend when I insisted that my daughter stay home with me. No getting on a plane to visit Mom.

    Best regards,

    Jim

Glad to hear your daughter was not in the area.
I'm sure her mom is relieved too.
