I just obtained my credit score of 631.

In the insurance industry will that fly?

By the way I checked with the companies you mentioned and they all will pull a report in Texas.

In addition, the ones that don't automatically dump you in high risk and double the rates.

    TT,

I don't know how they score for insurance. It is a separate product (scoring system). My suggestion is look for an independent agent near you - have you tried that? They may know better for Texas than I do. I'm licensed there, and I know the laws, but I don't know what an agent who's located there knows.

There are some top notch companies that are small, and don't advertise to the public, and an agent there will know about them.

Sorry I can't give you definite answers. :(

    Thanks kindly.

I have started to call independent brokers but all of their rates seem inflated.

Keep trying. I know it isn't fun, hehe, but ummm think of it as money...if there's a lower rate out there, you want to find it.

You might go on the Motley Fool's Insurance Board and ask. If I recall there were a couple of Texas agents posting there when I was active on it. They would be glad help you out.

I have a CapOne card and clicked on the Liberty Mutual partner on their homepage. I save $400/yr over Progressive and no credit check was done on me. They do ask for your S.S.N. however. You shouldn't have a problem at all.

GEORGE, sometimes you have to for ID at least.
I don't agree with it either. It is no different than cellular companies checking your credit before extending their services to you.

Anyway, I could stand 1 inquiry on my report to save $400/year on insurance.

Your driver's license or state issued id is all they need for id.

SS# does not PROVE who you are...the driver's license or state id does.

GIVING SS# TO ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY IS A SORE POINT WITH ME.

SAM'S WANTED IT. (I SAID BYE...THEY SAID WAIT WE WILL GIVE YOU A "FAKE" #...THEY CAN'T GIVE EVERYBODY A "FAKE" #)???

VOTER REGISTRATION WANTED IT. (I SAID BYE...THEY SAID WAIT WE WILL GIVE YOU A "FAKE" #...THEY CAN'T GIVE EVERYBODY A "FAKE" #)???

THE COLLEGE WANTED IT. (IS IT REQUIRED BY LAW? NO)

I SAW AN ACCIDENT, THE POLICE WANTED IT. (NO, DO YOU WANT THE ACCIDENT INFO, OR NOT)???

GO TO THE HOSPITAL, THEY WANTED IT. (NO...GIVE ME A BILL I WILL USE VISA/MC)
THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME A BILL BEFORE LEAVING...BUT THEY MAILED IT TO ME...

    CASINO Answer......

ALL casinos are required under the Federal Gaming Act to report all winnings over $1199! Ideally, you want to win...and....you want to win in increments of $1199 or less. The IRS and casino do not report those winnings.

You also receive a different tax form - I believe it was a 1099-R - Gambling Winnings. I reported $2K last year that I won at Bellagio.

The casino was not being difficult - just following the rules they have to follow.

    CASINO UPDATE/CALIFORNIA:
I saw Donald Trump signed a deal with some San Diego tribe to build a Vegas style casino in SD! There is a small poor suburb east of San Francisco across the Bay Bridge, near Oakland. They have one operating card room - cards only - no machines, etc.

Now, an American Indian resident has been allowed to claim the city of San Pablo as Indian land. With the full support of the poor population of San Pablo and the mayor's desire to see this town prosper, the card room will soon be transformed into a Vegas style casino - 20 minutes from downtown SF! The sketches they have drawn are outstanding - glitzy - yup - taky - oh yeah - kewl - yup - a population of 10 million within 20 minutes. This one won't be a small casino LOL.

Well, that will take billions of bucks from Nevada!

Imagine, Californians NOT DRIVING to Vegas or Reno/Lake Tahoe (from San Francisco). ARF!

    ANYWAY:
What finally happened to you in SD? Did you cash out without giving up your SS#? FYI - if you used your own tracking card, you already gave them your SS# when you got the tracking card. You put it down when you filled out your ID information on the original application!

    How did this one end?

    Re: CASINO Answer......

Say you win $2000 one night and pay taxes on it up front, and then you lose it all the next night. Will Uncle Sam let you write that loss off? Heh

    Re: CASINO Answer......

Mike - there is a legal tax form to deduct gambling losses - I was thinking about that.

EX I win $2K - then put 2K back? How does that turn out....LOL! Some people claim losses.

As you know, I hit 2 royal flushes at Bellagio within 4 hours - diamonds both times - and won $5K. Think about THESE ODDS!

    a royal flush ???
    2 royal flushes????
    2 royal flushes both diamonds????
2 royal flushes both diamonds at Bellagio in 4 hours?

The quarter poker machine jackpot was $1K! The cash was paid out immediately. The dollar machine paid $4K - oh yeah baby - arf arf arf! I received a new 1099R form to fill out for this tax year! Oh well!

These casinos here in San Diego are on the Indian territory, (so they say) and have vegas style slots, blackjack, pai gow, etc.....For the 1199$ amount that only applies for slots...for chips if you move more than 10,001$ in cash or by credit card advance from the cage ( they keep track) they will want your SS# and fill out the IRS form...you can cash out 9800$ in a 24hr period w/out any problems if its chips.....My problem w/them is they said i moved around 14,000$, and i did not.....so when i tryed to cash out the 9600$, they wouldnt even cash out 1k, w/out the SS# and IRS FORM....after the Cage Manager left i cashed it all at once, no problems....no i REFUSE to use all of these CASINOS 'players cards' for just that reason...they want SS# and if over the 10,001$ in chips or 1199$ on slots, they will want the IRS form filled out...they "RATE YOU" .....anways if you are a big winner in cash and dont report it (pay taxes on it) and you end up depositing it in your bank account, and you get audited, and your income is less than your total deposits..so never deposit it in there...nowadays this is why to 'wash money' is more difficult.....
